Few favorites from the 50, 105 and 135 just to keep it rolling...

K2000 (K-m) + Super Takumar 50/1.4 One 0f the 1st shots taken with the 50/1.4, as far as I can tell, this must be at minimum focus distance and wide open. I rarely use the S-T since I got the SMC version but in all honesty, I rarely use any 50mm lens anymore, the focal length and field of view just never suited my eye.

Details on Picasa

K-x + Super Takumar 105/2.8 @ ISO1250 this 105 along with the 35 are the Taks I use most often.

K10D + Super Takumar 135/3.5 I like this lens over the S-M-C version for it's compactness

K10D + Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 135/2.5 (Model 2) but the S-M-C is a very sweet lens, though pretty large with an extra long focus throw.

Harbinger of Spring

In spite of the heavy winter we've been having this year, most of the snow melted today in the bright sun, and I found this crocus coming up in the back yard.

I love pics taken with Takumars so much I've started to view this thread again from the beginning.

Sadly I notice that many of the early contributors (e.g., Mike Cash) images are no longer available.

Snow on Magnolia

Never underestimate the rendering power of the venerable 200 F4.

I don't think I could have created this shot with my DA 50-200.

Funny story, while going round the park where i took that pic i was "wearing" my k200d with b-grip and the 200 f/4 Takumar with its original metal hood (it was sunny before the duck appeared).

I swear i saw some Canikon users staring at me like i was wielding some strange alien artifact made of highly exotic materials: glass and metal.

Perhaps they were lamenting the FACT that all of their old, beautiful glass has been long relegated to a box in back of the closet, or the scrap heap.

I had a similar laugh on a capture of my cat I posted on another web site. At 100% crop you could clearly make out the neighborhood in the reflections of the cats eye.

He insisted it must have shot with a Canon full frame.

When I told him it was a K-7 shot with a 40yr old Takumar 55 1.8, that cost me all of about $12, he quit talking to me...............

A lot of film shooters still use FD glass and I imagine there are adapters to use them on mirrorless systems. I fancy trying out some of the old Canon film SLRs (not the newer, plasticky EOS ones - yuck).

SMC Takumar 1:1.4 50mm

Hi Takumar fans I found a pretty good looking SMC Takumar 1:1.4 50mm lens for auction at goodwill I think Good will does a lot of good for people in need . So if you like this lens go to this link and make a bid right now its at 56.00 dollars . I'm going to bid on it but I can't go over 60 so I'm going to be out soon . There is also a
Vivitar Series 1 70-210mm 1:3.5 Macro Focusing Auto Zoom that with it . which for a constant 3.5 from 70 to 210 is not bad either . The more you bid the more people you help . shopgoodwill.com - #20191134 - Vintage Honeywell Pentax Camera w/ Extra Lens - 3/3/2015 2:59:31 PM I think its this lens . SMC/S-M-C/Super Takumar 50mm F1.4 Reviews - M42 Screwmount Normal Primes - Pentax Lens Reviews & Lens Database If someone from this group wins it will you let me know I also like helping people that belong to this club . Its on a es camera so what ever mount is on that camera is the lens mount I'm not 100 percent sure if its the one I pictured a link to if its not let me know and I will change this .

RE: Canon FD Lenses

Hello, all.

I'm one of those guys with a box full of Canon FD lenses in my closet.

Over 30 years ago, an old girlfriend unexpectedly bought me a Canon AE-1, so this put me in the land of Canon until 2007, when I bought my first DSLR digital, a Pentax K100D.

I have about 10 Canon FD lenses, most of which were bought new, and there's a few of them I miss using; the 85mm1.8, and the 200mm f2.8 in particular.

When I was given the Canon AE-1, I was on the cusp of buying a Pentax K1000.

I don't regret it; that's just how things went.

I did, in the late 80s, buy a Pentax 6x7, and the results this camera delivered rivaled those from my Hasselblad.

That's when I realized how good Pentax lenses are.

Recently, I noticed that there's an adapter available to put Canon FD lenses on Pentax bodies, but from what I've read here, and at other sites, the slight image loss caused by the adapter turns very good lenses into ordinary lenses.

So why bother?

I am very happy with all my Pentax glass!

C'est la vie.

Mike
