That lens rocks. You should try the sam on 135/3.5 or the 85/1.9!

Hi

I got a hold of an old m37 Takumar, the Asahi-Kogaku Takumar 100mm f3.5. The other day a m37->m42 adapter arrived. Here are the first shots I took with this lens. Camera is K-3, ISO 100. First image lens fully open at f3.5 and then one stopped down to f5.6. The last picture shows the lens mounted on the K-3
That K3 prestige is so perrrrtyyyy....

I like the photograph of the kettle, monochromatic except for a bit of color in the flame and the coals. I shot something in the same vein last year. I don't know if I put it in the forum, but the picture was taken with a Super-Macro-Takumar 50mm f4 1:1 at f5.6 if I remember correctly.

Went to the lake today (yesterday at this point). Took a few pictures. Not really much to photograph out there right now as it's still a bit dead and frozen, with the wildlife not returning yet either. But here's an s-tak 50mm f/1.4 HDR image.

We had a partial eclipse of the sun here this morning. I decided to do the opposite of the obvious massive telephoto and went wide instead. This is with the Super Takumar 20mm with a home-made filter made from a CD. That thing at the top that looks like a crescent moon is the sun.

You should post your cd filter over in this thread: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/26-mini-challenges-games-photo-stories/27...amera-kit.html . we've been a bit slow there lately, and that sounds like a great bit of innovation/repurposing.

That's a very cool thread. I'll try to make time over the weekend to take some snaps of various things I've repurposed and post them there. I'm particularly proud of the cheap Ion slide copier that I took the guts out of and converted to work with a DSLR instead of the crappy little 5MP built-in sensor.

Today's cd filter was just a segment cut from a blank disc and taped to a step-up ring to make a rough-and-ready 14 stop ND grad filter (approx).

Nice shot! Anxious to see your home-brewed filter setup

Thanks Paul. I've just posted the info about the filter in the re-purposing thread: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/26-mini-challenges-games-photo-stories/27...ml#post3197584

I was looking for some dust, but I think that the lens flare is nice (Super Tak 50mm 1.4, 8elements)

Takumar versus K Lens

Hello again, everyone.

I finally did a thorough lens test of my three Takumars at the same time, with the same subject and at the same aperture.

I'll post some of those shots later, but for now, here is a comparison between two lens I like very much, but had never put through their paces equally.

I'm referring to my K55mm 1.8, and my Takumar 55mm 2.2.

In past tests, which were not that thorough, it always seemed that the K lens was noticeably sharper than the Tak, while the Tak had more pleasing colors.

Now, I'd like to show you all the results.

Photo #1 This is the Takumar K55mm 2.2 @ f8.0

Photo # 2 is the K 55mm 1.8 @ f8.0

Both photos were taken minutes apart. Only the time needed to carefully remove the Takumar and the M42 adapter ring, and mount the K55 with the camera on a tripod elapsed between the two exposures.

The only alteration done in Lightroom was to increase the whites by +20 to both photos, and to decrease the exposure on the K55 exposure by .26. This was done, because in other tests the K lens always seems to produce a slightly brighter image when compared with the Tak.

I believe I focused as carefully as I could.

I think the Tak is sharper, and yields a more pleasing image. It is, however, a slower lens to focus.

I would appreciate your opinions and observations.

Thanks,
Mike
