Are you teasing me with your recent LBA purchase Andrew? Should've made that shot with your DA 40 ... ;b

More from the SMC 50/1.4. I hope my friend doesn't find out that I posted his pic on this site... I really like how this one turned out though

Both postprocessed in lightroom. Second one has quite a big saturation boost but the original was actually quite saturated. The pp hides the flare quite well so I posted the PPed version instead. The sun was setting just slightly to the left of the picture.

With the Takumar 135/3.5 preset...

with the Auto-Takumar 35/2.3... Please excuse the weird flare - I think I need new light seals on this Spotmatic...

n00b struck with Tak bug

Hi all,
I'm new to PentaxForums. (See welcome post here.) But I already want to compliment you all on your fabulous photos. (I've perused all 98 pages.) And I thank you all for your insights and instructional info about using Taks on DSLRs. Based on what I've learned lurking here, I had a Tak on order from KEH almost before my new K20D arrived. (Super, non-SMC, 50/1.4 -- rather a bog-standard starting point.) Will post first photos from it if I can ever escape the office to take any! (Oh, and of course, s/t the adapter arriving!)
Thanks folks!

Tak 55, 105

I purchased a DA12-24 from TakeshiKovacs on Tuesday and also his spare M42 to K adapter so I had a chance to try my Super Tak 55/1.8 and S-M-C Tak 105/2.8 today. I have to admit that I am astonished at the picture quality of these Taks. I saw the pictures that you all posted so I had my hopes pretty high and I'm not disappointed. I'm especially impressed with the 105/2.8.

These were quick and dirty snaps, no special lighting other than a daylight green-earth bulb.

I should post some of the 100% crops! ( anyone know how to do this in Lightroom? )

Tele Takumar 400mm f/5.6 at, uh, f/8 I think?

I love the way long-focal-length lenses compress different foreground/background layers together.

My rather dusty S-M-C 135/3.5. The sharpness is mindblowing even on my dusty copy imo. I really don't get why this lens gets so much bad rep.

Take it easy with the sponsor dropping, this is a free and open forum where we can choose whatever company we want to support, anything but nikon, canon, olympus and sony are welcome as far as I'm concerned. And as for consumable products, who the hell are you ....man I'm thirsty.

Nice pic too...I can actually count his stubble it's so sharp...4324, 4325

I swear that the pentax brand have the best user forum in terms of humor. And I been to them all... Sharp, Panasonic, Nokia, Axe, Gillette...

S-M-C Tak 35/3.5 is probably the least sharp tak that I own (by a hair!) but still with the takumar colors and contrast Too bad it's 3.5 though, I'm having some difficulty focusing it with the K100d. I hope I'll find the f/2 version someday!

More from SMC 50/1.4

My first outing with my New-to-me Pentax SV and two Takumar lenses. I used my K10D as a light-meter to determine exposure settings.

Nice to see another SV user! You'll fall more and more in love with it the more you use it. Don't forget that with color negative film when shooting outdoors you can usually set your exposure based on the Sunny 16 method and not worry about a light meter at all. For other times I use a Sekonic L-208. Very small and mounts easily on the accessory shoe if your camera has one.

Thanks Mike for the info! Actually, having seen some of your SV shots gave me the idea of posting mine. What are your recommendations for film? I purchased the Kodak Portra at Henry's and it was a little more expensive then I thought it should be. I shoot mostly landscape and some family.

My most used film is DNP Centuria 200 (same as the old Konica Sakura 200, but Konica got out of the business). I like it because it is inexpensive and I get good results with it. I don't like to use 400 speed so much because under daylight conditions it is too limiting on aperture selection (basically limits you to a choice of f11 and f16). If you want to use 400, it might be a good idea to purchase an ND2 or ND4 filter to allow for more aperture choices. I get the 200 speed Centuria instead of the 100 speed for the simple reason that they sell the 200 in bricks of 10 rolls while the 100 and 400 versions are sold only as singles.
