It is part of what I find likeable about the lens. If the M20 is a different optical design that will be different. Check.
The 20mm does have some barrel distortion, but this isn't at all uncommon in super wide angles, and if one frames the shot carefully with the "horizon" in the center the effect is greatly minimized. That's why I included the bus stop photo in the samples. All the verticals look vertical to me
, and bowing of the lines isn't discernible.

I just paid $230 (plus $30 import duty), for an excellent copy of the SMC version from Japan. It is a bit high for a Takumar, but I think it was a fair price. They're not that common, and the price I paid was at the lower end of what was being asked on eBay the week before last.
