Yes - that's what I'm talking about - sharp, yet smooth. Very nice shot!
Thanks for that. The way it renders you swear the image is soft until you PP it.

I was using my Takumar 105/2.8 the other day and found it to be sharp enough at f/4

It is a nice focal length for kids isn't it? They are less aware of your presence.

*Cross Posted from K-1 thread* The tiny Tak 17mm is earning it's place in my bag lately. More fun and useful than I thought possible, heh.

Ok, ever go out on a day that is sunny and the contrast is ridiculous? Can't get the lighting or shot that you want?
I figured it was time to get inventive... tried my hand at an IR conversion. I thought it was kinda cool and it fit my mood.

It is a Banksia - an Australian plant. The flower bud is unfurled

I received SuperTak 50mm f1.4 8 elements today. I can't say it's sharper wide open than my copy of 7 elements. Maybe a little, I need more testing.
Even with hood I need to watch the light all the time, this lens is a pain, but creates "dreamy" images. I really like this lens from f2.8 to f4
The rest is in flickr album.

I did a quick comparison for both versions of SuperTaks 50mm
Left- 8 elements
Right-7 elements.
Both at f1.4, the same settings, with hood. I've tried to keep the same distance and same angle. Handheld. No editing. Screenshots from LR library.
You can check the original sizes on flickr.

As promised, here are a few shots taken with the SMC Takumar 105/2.8 wide open on film (Fuji Acros). The camera was a Yashica Electro AX.

Nice work with the Taks everyone. Hopefully I'll have something to post soon

Lana, what's your conclusion regarding the Tak 50s? I don't own either one, but have the SMC Tak 55/1.8, which I like very much.
