Thanks for the identification of those two birds. Being in Houston, Texas, we do get these unusual birds. We have a flock of those ducks in the neighborhood. And the heron was trying to catch a fish in the lake. The shimmer in the water was not very attractive but it wasn't oil. The fish seemed to like it.

The British love their birding!!! Never saw them in Florida--maybe on the west coast and north.

I'm a big wood stork fan myself.

British? No. Just an Irish-German from Upstate NY. Roger Tory Peterson was from Jamestown, NY, the far SW corner of the state
