Excuse me while I pause to wipe a tear from eye:

The above three shots are GORGEOUS, and you're breathing wonderful new life into the Takumar Club.

Thank you very much Ira and DaniRo!

I wouldn't have heard of Takumars if it wasn't for this thread.
I bought this lens before I bought my first dslr (K7) this week

Didn't expect to get THIS from the 85 1.9 this morning, and it's a 100% crop.

It was dark dawn, so I wish it had more pop and contrast, but I didn't want to overdo it in PP. Probably should have played with the on-board flash, but it probably would have flown away if I did. Also should have done some color shift to move it away from the blue, but what the hell.

My new lens is Takumar 200 f3,5. And what a lens! This is wide open on my K20d
Is this the preset with the 18 blade (I thnk) aperture? Love the lens.

I've got that same lens. It's a tank to focus, but it is a very nice lens. Not sure if your aware or not, but this lens was produced late 50's-early 60's.
what do you mean "tank" to focus, so it has a 350 degree focusing throw, and no you cant go from minimum focus to infinity in an instant, but the focusing action is great, and precision of focusing is unparalleled, once you aquire fcus even tracking moving subjects is easy.

I think it has 19 blades. The lens is very sharp wide open and very easy to focus. Here is another wide open proof

I am not sure, there are so many it's hard to count

I picked up this lens to be the top end of my M42 kit. and also find it very sharp and easy to focus. I use it on my K10D which I put a split image into. Since getting it, I have been looking for more and more presets with round apertures at all stops because the bokeh is quite different than modern lenses. In fact, if you search the forum, there is a thread I started https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-slr-lens-discussion/87425-definite...h-society.html with the intent to discuss the qualities of lenses with high numbers of aperture blades and round at all F Stops apertures.

here are a few shots of mine with the 200F3.5

I have yet to test it side by side with my Vivitar Series 1 70-210 F3.5 (version 1) but it would be a great comparison.

Maybe you can use that lens to take a picture of the referee you guys bribed.

JUST JOKING! I DON'T CARE ABOUT SOCCER ANYWAY!

I would congratulate you and your team, but how do you congratulate for a tie?

are you implying an out of focus result with unique properties

That reminds me, at one of my son's soccer games the referee showed up with his new pet, a nice yellow lab puppy that was in training as a seeing eye dog. Now doesn't that instill confidence in the ref.

I had Tokina 70-210 f3,5 (same lens as the Vivitar 70-210 second version) and I can say that old pre-set Takumar 200 is much better. Tokina is difficult to focus and with much more aberrations and quite disturbing bokeh.

It will be interesting because the version 1 lens I think is one of the best with respect to IQ, the biggest difference I see is that focusing will not be as precise because it is only 180 degree from min focus to infinity. Not bad bot not as accurate that's for sure.
