I think she is sensational......No chance of showing her in "Not Worksafe" formula, I suppose?!
Cheers, Pickles.

I don't think she is dressed quite so immodestly as to warrant NSFW status.

Sorry to double post, but I just got a fresh batch of dance photos from a four hour practice session leading up to this year's recital coming up next Saturday. The light was awful and I really wish I could afford a K5. I ended up shooting at ISO1000 and did everything at 1/60 @ f4 with a single flash about 5m in front of the stage on a light stand. By way of contrast, the shots from last year's recital, such as the one immediately above, were all done at ISO800 and 1/125 @ f5.6. Focusing was bit of a challenge today. Some of the shots were taken while standing on some chairs I placed on the edge of the stage. Some while lying down on the floor in the wings.

You do make those 105s shine! I love my 105(not a Tak). I find when I use my 55-300 I often review the pics later and find I was at 100-120mm Something about being able to Highlight(or isolate) and be personal whithout invading.. If that makes any sense?

Always love the 35/2 dance shots!!!

Giant Pigeons

Pentax Takumar 18/11 Fish-eye

After being spoiled by the rendering on my Pentax K-x, I now have to make do with a Canon Kiss X3, ugh.

You know I'm always shooting with S-Tak 105 and at f/4

Well, it's sharp enough and it has about perfect portrait angle, even on aps-c. It trains, guys! It's narrow and you have to walk in and out and bow to get a good point of view. And cropping can't save you. What's for me, it's a rigid teacher.

Surely Ira has a baaad 105. it's cheating on him

And Mike is not just a photo kyoshi, he's also a storyteller! Really, Pentax is good at least of Pentaxians.

Well I'm off for some learning English and shooting. See ya

That was a touching story, but you know as well as I do that not all Taks are equal.

And to me, the Super-Tak 105 is the least equal of all.

Mind you, like I said, I'm going to dedicate this lens to macro work with my bellows, and extension tubes just purchased. (Original Pentax brand!)

But for walking around shooting in my bright Florida sun--eech. It's either flare, or washed out.
We will have to agree to disagree about the Tak 105mm because they are all interesting lenses. Are you using a hood?

I can understand Ira's point of view. I am extremely uncomfortable with anything under 20mm on apsc. The field of view is alien to me .. Nothing I do or try has made me comfortable with it. And I know it must be rare but once in a while a Tak may not be up to snuff. I have both the m501.4 and m501.7 (not taks but similar I think?)and the 1.7 really works for me but the 1.4 isn't quite up to par. I need to get another sample but would feel bad unloading my copy onto someone.

Stash: Your 105 pics are vibrant and rich really shows off the 105.

NoMaD PS : Obviously STUNNING! And the 105 is PErfect FOR THE SHOT. I have a feeling if you had photographed her with an Old Soligor zoom She would still be STUNNING though

It's interesting how different photogs rely on different tools in their craft.

You hurt me with that question.

I use hoods on everything.

I usually go f5.6 or f8 when the light allows it. I only use the 105s at work and most of my subjects are moving so I need the extra bit of DOF to cover focusing errors and allow for movement.

教師 is a complete overstatement. I'll take the "storyteller" compliment, though, because that is something I try to deserve. I always figure "If you can't take a beautiful picture, at least take an interesting picture. If you can't take an interesting picture, then at least take an educational picture." As I lack an eye for the artistic I put my efforts toward trying for interesting or educational pictures. I don't always make it, but I try.

I'll be shooting another session today from 1 to 7 p.m. Then a few hours on Friday afternoon/evening rehearsal at the performance hall. Six or seven hours Saturday at the recital. Then some large part of Sunday at a Culture Festival in a neighboring town.

Nobody will be sicker of dance photos than I will in about a week.

I am the lone voice on this forum proclaiming that my S-Tak 105 absolutely stinks.

I won't compare it to the 135 since I hardly ever shoot it (don't go much for the longer lengths anyway), but my 105 flares beyond belief at certain angles, even with hood. Plus, I see nothing, nothing special there at all compared to every of my other Taks.

Hell, I even prefer the 200 4 to that 105.

Everyone who has the 105 disagrees with me, but when you're shooting with the 55 1.4, 35 2, and 85 1.9, the 105 is a big disappointment.

I'm going to start doing some macro work, and use it on bellows with extension tubes. Maybe then I won't trash the damn thing.

i am also not much impressed by mine 105 tak.

First time i bought tak 105 was not impressed with wide open performance. I thought my lense has problems so returned it.

Then after a year so seeing other peoples work i thought may be first time was defective lense so bought it again. Again i am not happy how it is wide open. It is very good at F4 but DOF changes.

anyway this lense did not cost much and mostly it is with me because of collection purposes (it is popular lense so wish to have a copy of it).

All in all , still prefer my 135mm F2.5 K , great performer wide open.
