v5planet, nice batch of photos. Thanks for sharing!

Mike, if I said "nice photo" for every shot of yours that I liked, this thread would be really long and boring!

SMC Takumar 50mm 1.2

I've always wondered if such a lens existed.

This guy Tommy Oshima posts photos using this lens.

Can anybody here confirm this? Maybe it's a prototype?

He's on crack. It's probably a 55 1:2

star trails

SO, I took the 50/1.4 out for a spin last night as a first technical attempt at photographing star trails. This image is a (manually, ugh) stacked composite of 51 25-second exposures at ISO 400, f... ~3ish. It was dark, I couldn't see the aperture ring.

Maybe I'll even try for interesting composition next time

Today was pouring rain and also 19C ( in November in Canada!!!)

so i wrapped the old Rebel XT in a plastuc bag and used the filter to cut a hole for the Super takumar 55mm , I was only out for about 25 minutes and then we had a subtropical stormwatch, good times! here is what I managed to get:

which is a different crop of this ( the new colours remind me of the Vangelis Album Beaubourg album)

You're very kind to say so. Someday you should root around through all the photos on my hard drive. Then you'd realize the only way I ever get anything decent is by taking advantage of sheer volume. Shoot enough crap and something useful will come out of it eventually.

D-Day has arrived and it is time to go see if I can get some dance shots at the recital....or make them wish they had paid for a pro. Sadly, the young lady in this shot will not be with us this year. She finished high school and is now enrolled at vocational school. She has exams today and can't miss them. She started doing this stuff when she was about four and dances like an angel.

Okay, took out the new 28mm
I think I did a much better job on this one... also snagged a meteor and a few satellites.

Out with the super tak 50/1.4 again. I seem to be going through some phase where all my photos have to end up in sepia or warm duotone.
