I finished up work for the year around lunchtime today and have the next six days off, returning to work on January 5th. I informed my wife that I'm going to go somewhere. I'll tell you the same thing I told her in response to her questions: I don't know when I'm going. I don't know where I'm going. I don't know when I'll be back.

I may stay gone six hours or I may stay gone six days.

I do not know many wives for whom this would suffice as an explanation: you have selected a great woman--congratulations. BTW, 6 days out of work--then I expect at least 6 times as much posting.

Mike:

I would kill to be able to get on a plane and go to Colombia for a few days, even though I've never been there. (My wife is Venezuelan...been there a ton of times...but I won't go there until Chavez is dead and buried.)

I would go with just the 35 2 , 50 1.4, and 85 1.9--and that's it. Hop on a porpuesto (that's a little local bus), and keep changing buses until I'm nowhere near any of the major cities. And just shoot whatever the hell I want.

Married with kids, this is an impossible dream for me. And let me expose the ironies of life:

If I was diagnosed with cancer tomorrow, my wife would send me off with best wishes to enjoy this dream before they threw the dirt over me. Otherwise, forget it:

She would bury me before I could get on the plane.

Really looking forward to the results of your time off Mike.

Ira, I sure hope thats not how you get to realize your dream ! But I do hope you get to realize it.

As for me, I just want to get done here in Winterpeg and get somewhere above zero The cold really dampens the enthusiasm.

smctak 55/2 at 2 below or 20 below in the north

I just realised why I've wanted the smc taks. It's the incredible color saturation. Those rich deep reds, Royal and majestic blues, and vibrant greens

Ummm . . . you might want to clean your sensor there, jatrax.

(Nice moody shot, I like it!)

jatrax - Funny howsmall apertures make dust show up, huh? Nevertheless, still a cool picture, and I think the specks add to it

Here's a dilemma I'm usually faced with when I shoot with Taks: I usually only shoot while I'm hiking, and I usually only carry two lenses. So my question to you all: If you had to pick two Taks to shoot with, what would you bring? Usually I pick the two I haven't used in the longest time.

Actually guys, those spots are SNOW! Right in the middle of 13" being dumped on us, the clouds opened for just a few minutes with brilliant sunshine even as the snow continued to fall. If you look close you can even see a bit of a "snowbow". Never saw anything like it.

It was an eerie, moody scene and I'm glad at least some of that came through in the photo.
