Mike: It is not the lenses you use. It is you, the man behind the camera. I do enjoy looking at ALL your photos.

At any rate "forgotten roadside religious statues in rural Japan that nobody gives a second glance otherwise" is a niche that I have pretty much 100% to myself, which always helps. Cuts down on the chances of being unfavorably compared with somebody else, if nothing else.

I really do prefer that lens for that sort of stuff, although the lack of semi-modern coatings makes it kind of rough when I have to shoot too close to my light, even with a hood on it. Sort of washes things out, as you can see happened on the left of that last shot.

The Auto-Takumar 55/1.8 (and 2.0) is truly a humble yet awesome piece of glass. I thought I could completely replace it with a Super-Tak 50/1.4 but found out the 55 still holds its own in certain aspects and couldn't let it go.
Great shots, guys!

Auto-Tak 55/1.8 on K-x; PDCU bleach bypass

Super Takumar on NEX-5N; straight-out-of-camera, default jpeg settings

I can not count how many different 50ish mm lenses I had on my K20d through the years it served me, but I am certain this lens (Auto Takumar 55mm f/1.8) was the sharpest and rendered most accuarately.
Great shot of the waterfall, I really like it!

I haven't used my K200D much since I got into film and rangefinders, but recently got a great excuse to dig it out... I met an old colleague the other day, he had thought about me when going through his basement, since I "like old cameras". I went home with a bag containing a couple of SVs, extension tube, bellows and these beauties... A bit dusty from spending a lot of years in a bag, but I think they'll be fun
I have almost the same set. Get an adaptor and go have fun. Pay particular attention to the 200/3.5. There are a few of us here with that lens, and there are sample images in the sample forum. It is , I think the best 200 tak, and I prefer it to the SMC 200/4. The 85 is a good lens but take off any filters you consider, as it can have a lot of filter induced flare. The only difference between your set and mine is my 35 is the SMC tak F2

We're very pleased to have you with us. I'm afraid I don't see a photo in your post, though.

I can't seem to get the photo to link from my Flickr. Trying to figure it out and I'll get it up ASAP!

All sizes | IMGP0446 | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

Here is your image. Nice.

Instead of copying the web address you need to right click the photo and select copyImageURL. It's frustrating because I post on 4-5 different forums and each has a different process for posting photos. But usually copyImageURL works.

Thanks for that. I'll edit it to that. This is why you are a Veteran Member and I'm not!
