get the Tokina SL 17/3.5 (one got away from me for $205.00)
Anybody have any opinion or experience with this lens?
All I know is that I have had some wonderful shots with the kit lens at 18mm

I went with the zenitar 16mm fisheye for the wide end of my M42 kit, at $180 new in M42 it seems like the right selection. So far I have been impressed with it

THAT is a powerful argument.

Good thing given that this is the Takumar Cult, I mean Club.

Do not know what it is
It appears to be, variously known as, a pillar drill, post drill or drill press.

Do you know this equipment?

I'm guessing it is a seed cleaner (shaker tray) of some sort.
And welcome to forums and the cult err club!

Hi,

I want to introduce myself. My name is Jose Hernandez. I've owned a K10d since it was released and just recently upgraded to a K5 via the link on this site. I must admit that until I got to this site I didn't know much about past Pentax lenses, much less the Takumars. Thanks to all you bastards, I just been brainwashed, all common sense gone. Resistance was futile. The more I read, the more obsessed I became.

Today I received my very first Takumars, a 50mm f/4 Macro-Takumar and a 105mm f/2.8 Auto-Takumar and I'm floored by the test pics I took. So thank you all, I'm a convert.

Or, it might be the PR - commercial people who want to sell us the best of the new - for the biggest price and with not the sturdy feel our old lenses have

I tested out the super tak 24/3.5 yesterday... in between rainclouds I biked out of the concrete jungle to see how infinity focus was doing.. wanted to try out some bracketing shots but after 2 shots battery was dead and I found out that I forgot my reserve... Luckely most takumar shots are right within 2 goīs !

and one rather uninspired shot taken in the garden later, it shows close focus capabilities :

another great lens added to my collection! it even came with hood and special pouch for the hood..

For Wide Angle donīt overlook the SMC Takumar 24 f/3.5, I find that it works well on my Canon crop sensor (1.6x). I still have the Canon EF-S 10-22 but I only really use that for indoor shots or artistic shots to over emphasize the foreground.

I find the the 24mm even on a crop sensor camera is wide enough for general outdoor landscape shots.

Normally when I am out and about I carry the SMC Takumar 24 f/3.5, S-M-C Takumar 50mm f/1.4 and the SMC Takumar 135mm f/2.5 and I feel that I get the shots that I want.

I need to start using my SMC Takumar 35 f/2 more now that it has finished being deyellowed.
