Shot with the SMC Takumar 200mm f/4.

I haven't logged into this site in probably over a year, but I just had to log in and comment that I love this photo. Especially the little water droplets suspended in the air. Bravo!!!

Focus confirmation

I have recently adquired a Pentax istD camera and I do not get focus confirmation with my also recently adquired Takumars. I use the original K to M42 converter.

I do get focus confirmation on my K10 though. I wonder if any istD user could help me.

Thank you.

I use the K100 not the istD, but the folowing may apply:

"Two custom settings are needed to change in order to get AF confirmation as well as metering with the manual lens.

FL (focus lock) with S lens used
default is 'Not Available, you need to turn this to 'Available' so that AF confirmation can be obtained in M42 lens

Using Aperture Ring
default is 'Prohibited' and you need to turn this to 'Allowed' so that aperture can be metered in stopping down with the M42 lens."

Good luck!

Super Tak 50/1.4 on K20D. No post-processing other than to crop from vertical. Bumble bee going crazy on a large onion blossom, shot contre-jour. This bee went round and round the big spherical blossom head for multiple minutes (an eternity for a flighty insect) oblivious to my presence, before finally departing for nearby oregano flowers. Cropped off the top of this shot were further hexagonal flare things. (You can see the bottom 1/4 of an enormous one, still remaining.)

Trying out my new (to me) SMC Takumar 50mm f/1.4 lens. Taken using a Pentax ES and Kodak TMax 100.

Takumar 28mm

Been a littlewhile; Adding another Takumar 28mm shot; Really digging film lately; I might not go back to digital until they shut down the last lab.

I always wanted to buy an inexpensive plain-manual film camera that will work with all my TAKs.
Finally, there was one listed on ebay ( Asahi Pentax SP ) for $25.00.
Seller claims all is in working condition and kept in good shape.

I looked at the instructions for that camera on line and found the following:

Attachment 127578
from instructions

Attachment 127579
newly purchased SP

If I can not use the 50/1.4 on the SP what about the 28/3.5 and the 35/2

I am planning to shoot color negatives and/or slides, can anybody
recommend a good scanning facility and approximately the cost to
scan one roll of 36 exp.

Thanks
Tak-pix, not sure if you have found the answer meanwhile, but you mixed info about the SV and the Spotmatic. The Super Tak 50/1.4 was introduced in 1964, and it wasn't compatible with the 1962 SV (with green R). But it was designed for the red R SV and the Spotmatic, which came out the same year (1964). So the green/red R are only valid criteria for the SV, not the Spottie, which can take the full line of Takumar lenses, as far as I know.
