I am away at a conference just now and was one of the 'official' photographers.I brought STak 28/3.5 with 58mm filter. This lens had the front assembly become very loose (not the front elements structure, just the vanity ring and the outer section to which it is attached. I can hear at least one loose screw inside. Need to fix when I go home. That will probably be delayed until I buy some JIS screwdrivers.) That was my wide choice. I really felt I missed something wider after I had to retire it when it got extremely loose.
Also had the 55/1.8. This was good except it was a bit long for things such as pictures at dinner or when mingling among the crowd.
The SMC Tak 135/2.5, first version, was lovely to use in the indoor environment of dark presentation rooms. Of course there is the blue colour cast resulting from illumination largely from digital projectors.
And the STak 300/4 was lovely, after my temporary repair job with sticky tape. It is challenging to focus in dim light at f4 but when I get it it is good. Also it was nice to hold and use, even handheld at speeds like 1/15. Absolutely wonderful having SR in body! There were many failed shots of plenary speakers but some nice protraits ones of them speaking from the front row with the 300 that made it worth the effort. This one is great for candids of audience members.
The 55 was useful for catching award presentations witht he awardees on the stage and myself in the front row of the audience.

The other photographer was back again with his Canon with a few zooms and flash (repaired after it broke apart in Rome last year.)

The 28 did a good job of one of the Philadelphia mummer bands performing a couple of nights ago, in the convention center both with good broad lighting and upstairs in a dark space backlit with spotlights. (After that I had to retire it for repairs.)

Thank you all! I'm surprised how well this Super Takumar did in such harsh lighting. I do use a hood but still surprising how well flare, CA and PF were controlled...

Nice lens collection, and the water drop shot is excellent.

Not a picture this time, but a lens.
This is the Frankenstein of two broken 50/1.4s. The focus is stiff, the glass is chipped, the exterior is all messed up, and the aperture is "manual" - the aperture ring is stuck, so is the auto-manual switch, so you have to spin the lens in order to open/close the diaphragm. All in all, it looks awful, but it still takes Takumar pictures (sorry for not-so-great picture, but I had to upload something to show what it's capable of).
