Does anyone know if the Takumar 200mm 3.5 can be re-calibrated to work on the Nikon body with a glass adapter?

If you have a glass in adaptor for M42 to Nikon it should manage the infinity focus,

Canon is much easier, it has a shorter registration distance. You give up about 1mm from memory. I have not opened up my 200/3.5 to know how much infinity adjustment there is

I have a glass adapter, but sometimes the quality isn't as great. I was hoping to make adjustment to the infinity focus if I can be done.

Ideally, look for the original packaging. Also, to my knowledge, no genuine Pentax adapter came with a "removal tool".

Earlier adapters were boxed:

More recent ones had a distinctive pale green plastic sleeve:

One thing to mention about the adapter is that they're not all the same. Some of them ends with the focus mark closer to 12 oclock than others.

Mike Cash claimed that this is a design feature as the built in flash housing prevents us from using the lens properly if the focus mark is obscured. I presume this means that the newer the adapter, the farther they'd be from 12.

I personally prefer it closer to 12 as it looks cooler and less "adapted", and I only look at the lens for the DOF scale, but that's just me

They all work fine though, I just mentioned this in case you have to choose from more than one option.

Signs of Autumn.

I like how my Auto-Takumar 55mm f2.2 renders so much, I bid for an Auto-Takumar 55mm f2 on e-bay last week. I was the only bidder....It arrived today, and on a lunch break here's my fourth photo, wide open, only very slightly sharpened and cropped, nothing else, with a K20D.

I have a Takumar 300 f4 lens on the way. It has fungus in the front element, but I could just clean that off. Other than that does anyone else have any pictures with this lens? I haven't seen many post with it.

I'm wondering if I could get some help from the pentax experts? This is my first post in this forum, which is fitting because I'm looking to purchase my first Takumar lens soon. I'm deciding between the 50 1.8 and the 50 1.4, but I need to know which one will work best with my follow focus. I can't seem to find the length of the 1.8 posted anywhere.

Is the 1.8 smaller than the 1.4? Does anyone have a rough estimate of how far from where the lens meets the camera the far edge of the focus ring falls?

Many thanks in advance for any help!
