Auto-Takumar 55 1.8, Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 105 2.8, and Super-Takumar135 3.5

Drivers are a bit reluctant to stop at this intersection. The signal stop line is directly under these concrete sections used in construction of an extension to a local elevated rail system.

A local reporter says "The slabs weigh between 23 and 36 tonnes; once all the segments are up and in place, there will be tensioning cables that run within the guideway segments that pull them tightly together. There are also teeth within each segment that snap together to stop them from shifting against each other. The whole thing is epoxyed to form one continuous piece of guideway."

With the Auto-Takumar 55 1.8:

With the Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 105 2.8 :

I found I needed to bump contrast and modify exposure much more than with the 55 1.8 which usually produces honest jpegs SOOC regardless of the camera used.

Super-Takumar135 3.5

Sorry for the multi-posts. Just working my way through a few cards on new software. This should do it for a while.

These were taken in January from the Queensborough Bridge in New Westminster. Fraser River Pile Driving Company (FRPD) moors its brightly coloured equipment here when not in use. The colour red against the Blue sky and water was very compelling.

Thank you both. And yes, it's great having a baby - for this reason, and for many others!

Super-Tak 55/1.8. (Edit: My mistake. This was the Super-Tak 55/2, not the f1.8.)

I think I need to check my monitor's colours. Blues are significantly richer on it than when I look at the same photos on my phone, so one of them is clearly off.

I like that.

How do you do focus stacking?

You take a series of shots, either moving subject or camera, or refocusing, between shots, to get as much of the subject in focus as you want. You then combine the shots in PP, either using a dedicated focus-stacking program such as Zerene Stacker (the one I use), CombineZ, or Helicon Focus; or "by hand" in Photoshop or some such.

My Tak stash

Thought I'd share my Tak stash.

I use them with the M42 adapter that I pretty much leave full time on my old DS when I'm in a creative mood. It's kinda like vintage Takumar meets vintage DSLR. Works really well actually! I really enjoy just shooting away and letting the camera choose the shutter/iso. Works a treat. Alas, the poor old Spotmatic doesn't seem much use these days...Mostly shoot my K-5 classic for outdoor or action, sports, etc. but this little combo still has a certain something about it.

L to R - a stack of extensions, 200mm F4, 135mm f3.5 35mm f2.0 17mm f 4.0 fisheye, and the 28mm f3.5 on the Spottie.

And of course the obligatory shot of my poor dog, worn out from posing for test shots. Taken with the DS, Tak 200mm 160th, ISO200.

I recently added a 300MM f4 to my Takumar stash, waiting to get it back from Eric in Tennessee for a quick tuneup.

Also with the Super-Tak 55/2. After having spent all last month using a lens whose bokeh was nowhere near as smooth, this one was wonderful to dig out and use yesterday:

Very nice to see; they all look in excellent condition.

I recently got a Super Takumar 55/1.8, and its a lot of fun to use and process the beautifully rendered images (plus it completes my collection of all Takumar 55 versions except sub-version versions )

That is a nice collection. It seems your 35/2 is the 58mm filter version.

How does the fisheye projection of the 17 work on APS-C. I have been really interested to find out but I have not seen anyone on the forum placing pictures with it on a DSLR.

I am quite pleased with the 300/4 you recently got, rather an improvement on the 300/6.3 teleTak. My copy needed some creative patching to overcome the loss of the auto/man switch - with one criterion of the adjustment being that it had to be a no damage adjustment. Achieved by judicious placement of sticky tape to hold the auto coupling pin in - which allows the diaphragm to be adjusted.
