An extra from my monthly single challenge. Takumar 135/3.5 preset, wide open.

Excellent wide open capture ... I love pre-sets in general; too much fun! J

I don't much care for them when I'm shooting film, since I find they get a bit in the way of how I shoot. But when paired with a digital body that wouldn't be able to use an auto-diaphragm anyway then I'd much rather be using them.

I got the lens and it's pristine, and works great! I have not done a comparison between it (SMC Tak 55 f1.8) and my S-T 55 f1.8, but am curious if there are any noticeable performance differences.

Hi Joe - I own a bunch of S-T's, SMC's and a couple of S-M-C I have found that the SMC's produce a "smoother contrast" transition, which may in some eyes look just a bit softer than the S-T. The 55/1.8 S-T is one of the sharpest and easiest to focus and really like the colors of the 55 SMC but because it's so close in FL to a 50/1.4 I usually just reach for the 50

That's an awesome image! The Super Takumar 35/3.5 is my favorite lens, very compact, sharp with reasonable close focus ability.

My First Takumar... a bayonet 135mm f2.5 that I found dusty, neglected, and forgotten in a pawn shop earlier today. Blades are clean, no fungus, and so far so good...

Nice 'end of day' captures. Can't go wrong with that light.

Here's one from the SuperTak 35 3.5--which I'm really liking for landscapes.

Very nice pictures, interesting hearing about Tak 35mm/3.5, for the moment I was just playing with my Takumar Bayonet 135mm f2.5 ... That picture is f4, I guess:

More S-M-C Takumar F1.8:
#1 - bokeh-test wide-open with 20mm ext. ring on the Pentax K-5:

#2 - also on the K-5 approx. F4-5.6

#3 - older image from the K20D - nearly wide-open

#4 - do.

For the sake of comparison - an image taken with the older Super-Takumar 85mm F1.9:

#1 - Wide-open on the K-5 with 20mm ext.ring
