I have seen similar as well ... I think Chinese and Korean have something similar ... there are different types of figurine cats from what I have seen as well.

Nice shot fearview, wish I could see larger size to check out the bokeh.

I have a question about the Tak 85's. I see they get a pretty good review in the lens data base. Anyone have more shots taken with this lens. 85 f/ 1.8 or 1.9 ? Any info would be great.

Thanks a bunch!

There have been several shots posted in this thread taken by the Super Takumar 85mm f/1.9. Simon is now the proud owner of my copy, but here are some shots I've taken with it before.

Definitely proud owner of the 85mm ... Jay it's an immaculate lens indeed ... especially for it's age.

All my 85mm f/1.9 shots are here:
Mechan1k/M42 Lenses/Super Takumar 85mm - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

But it is pretty much most of what I have posted though.
I need to get out more ... and upload more when i get a chance really.

I can immediately see the issue with the bayonet Tak - it can't spell Falafel! Excellent results.

Damn you all with your macros... I need a couple... and Mike, you have to stop that bad habit, haven't you slept enough in life already?

Spending too much time lurking on this thread has finally had the inevitable result. A Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 50/1.4 is on its way as soon as I complete payment. The "buy it now" price was a little over my limit, but the lens appears to be in good cosmetic shape. I thought I had kicked LBA habit and now here I am...fallen off the wagon and solidly in the gutter...again.

Love the first and third photos, Stratman.

Steve, take comfort that the Takumar addiction at least has the benefit of being probably the cheapest form of LBA. And there's no denying that the glass is great.

Super Takumars and Pentax-M's are actually more addicting to me than new DA*
or limited lenses. The colors/contrast of the Super Taks are incredible, but it's
also because I know I could build a whole collection of Super Taks or M's for the
cost of one DA* lens. I think all the Super Taks and M's in my sig cost less
than my DA 16-50 (leaving out the M 85 f/2 and 100 2.8).

The Super Tak 35 f/3.5 seems to be the only lens that gets this particular
shade of red "correct" right out of the camera:

Same here with this pink:

And it seems to handle subtle shades of white very nicely, without
succumbing to blow-out:

Yep, you're right about the expense factor unless, of course you consider satisfying LBA with off-brands! Doing that is truly cheap!
