Is that the first version with the 67mm filter ring, or the 49mm second version? I'm guessing the first version because of the exquisite rendering of detail in that last shot in particular.

It's a mighty lens, that original 35mm/2.0. It doesn't immediately blow you away with obvious edge sharpness, instead it creates photographs that draw you in deeper and deeper with its magical levels of detail. I just wish it wasn't so darn big and heavy--I usually end up using the 35mm/3.5 instead, just to save weight in my bag.

EDIT: I just noticed that you specified it was SMC, so I guess it must be the second version after all.

Second version or first, the 35/2 is one of the best Taks. I like the last, a typical landscape by tha tlens.

Yes, it's the smaller 49mm version. I couldn't believe I found one in mint condition and with virtually no internal dust.

I'm looking forward to trying it out on a Spotmatic. Just need to track down a suitable battery.

Dave, I agree completely with your comments on Mike Cash. He was a major influence in my acquisition and use of Takumar lenses. I also found a lot of his images to be inspirational and always looked forward to "Taxi Tuesdays".
In a couple of months he should be making the trek for his "Annual Takuma Kajiwara Grave Visit and Cleanup". If he would surface here on the PF, and tell us how to, I wouldn't object to a small contribution to help defray some of the cost. (A PM would work as well Mike)
He was posting here Mike Cash's Photoblog Archive - Japan from the Driver's Seat , but his last post was back in January 2014.

I found what could be Mike Cash, but I am not sure. I found it (Click here) on SmugMug. It looks like he and his wife, or former wife have a studio in Walnut Creek, California. However, I have not seen a photo of Japan, so it may or may not be the same Mike.
I'm not as familiar with Mike Cash, being a newbie still.I just stumbled upon what I think is his account the other night, although I'm not sure how frequently it's updated.

Super-Takumar 35 3.5

I brought this lens along to Yellowstone Park earlier this month. I thought it performed quite well for the documentary style of shots I was taking. The lens was mounted on a SONY NEX 5n. It seemed to underexpose most shots but PP drew lots of details. All shots were handheld again so while the lens was capable of very sharp landscapes I blew quite a few due to movement. Most were taken at f8.

I too was heavily influenced by the work Mike Cash published on this forum. I am very interested in an update and wish him well.

Here's a shot from yesterday with my old 55mm f/2 SuperTak.

Unfortunately it seems to have some rather large chunks of something inside the lens now :-( I spent an hour cleaning up spots in lightroom yesterday. So I will be retiring this guy until I decide whether to have it cleaned or just replace it.
