preset 50mm f4 Super-Macro-Takumar

After several unsuccessful attempts to capture a good image of this flower with a 55mm f1.8 Super-Takumar and a preset 135mm f3.5, I had to resort to the macro to get the proportion of flower to background that I was looking for. The MFDs of the other two lenses were too far for a pleasing shot. The flower was too small in the scene. I waited for the late afternoon light to enhance the warmth of the colors and did minimal post-processing to compensate for the strong light and absence of a polarizing filter.

A 50mm Macro Takumar, coupled with a helicoid variable extension tube, can capture a nice image of slug. I've been meaning to get a picture of some nice looking tiny creature, but the slug was so slow it made it really easy.

And someday I will figure out how to better export photos--these are much sharper in my photo library than they are here.

great shots.
I have a few close-up lenses, and just look to the macro takumar 100 4.0. I think I'll buy it!

I got one of the 100/4 from someone near Sydney. The pictures in eBay looked quite grey, unattractive. But when it arrived it looked to be in perfect condition.

It is nice to use. But then I always tended to use longer lenses for macro work.

Beautiful. Pulled them out of the fridge? What does that do? Or am I being too literal again...

Literal might be right. SEQ is near the tropics, very humid up there.

I live in a place near the other extreme. Going to Las Vegas in June reminds me of home, except for the weirdnesses there.

Thanks. Yes, the bokeh that this lens can induce at times is quite hypnotic.

Yeah...sorry...I wasn't really thinking when I typed that. I keep my lenses in a humidity-controlled cabinet. It looks likes a small refrigerator...and I just refer to it as "the fridge".

Thanks to this thread I’m now the owner of a few Takumars. Some examples posted below.

SMC – Takumar 300/4 wide open; original triod ring from this Takumar is really helpfull for hand holding.

Takumar 200/5,6 – small and quality lens – not fast, but easy to focus and with preset aperture

Super Takumar 135/2.5 wide open

I love that second shot.

I took a bunch of M42 lenses (including several Taks) away with me this weekend but due to being busy and the poor weather, I didn't use any of them

I think I need to select one of my Spotmatics as my next walk-about film camera, that will force me to use the Taks
