I was bored one evening, so I picked up my camera to find something to shoot and came up with this. At least it provided me an evenings worth of entertainment.

Super Takumar 55 f1.8

I just picked up a nice 200mm f4. I put it on my K20 and when I went the take it off the adapter stayed on the camera. What is the easiest way to get it off?

Ain't she pretty? What is the Auto/Man switch do and how and when do you use it? It also came with a hard case. all for 55 bucks.

If it's a genuine Pentax adapter, just use your fingernail to pull the little locking clip/flange in one of those spaces and rotate it. After it rotaes about 1/4 turn or so, you can just pull it out.

I don't understand your question... Why would you want to get it off? I think you meant to ask, "What lense to get next, now that my camera is modifed into superiorness?"

It only really applies for cameras originally designed to use M42 lenses. For the camera you have you need to leave it so the "Manual" part is visible. That will let you actually adjust the aperture with the ring. Look through the viewfinder as you turn the ring; if you see a darkening of the scene then everything is jake. Alternately, look down the lens barrel from the front end as you turn the aperture ring and you'll see the blades moving; that will tell you the switch is in the right position.

Leave it in "Auto" and it won't matter what aperture you set....it will always be wide open. The camera has no mechanical means of shutting down the aperture like it does on K-mount lenses.

The Super Takumar is the same lens design as my M 400/5.6 and the K 400/5.6 before it. I would personally want one with any combination of Super Multi Coated / S-M-C / SMC to reduce the fringing to a tolerable level. In high contrast situations my lens tends to have a lot of red fringing. In normal contrast situations, I am very happy with it. There are some shots in my Flickr site that I took with the M 400/5.6 (It's SMC, of course).
