From memory it is about a 1.45x conversion. The adaptor I have is a two element one, which leads to really soft images wide open, but somewhat more useful sharpness stopped down. Combined with the crop sensor, it really makes anything you had for your AE-1 a telephoto. Some of the lenses you likely have would make good portrait lenses when used with this adaptor , especially for soft effects, due to the color bleeding and softness of backgrounds . It might be worth experimenting with a 1.4x teleconverter lens set in place of the cheap glass in the adaptor to see if you can make a workable solution
Hey there, Lowell; nice to hear from you again.
I'm still deciding whether to sell all my Canon stuff or try a teleconverter/adapter.
If I sell all my lenses, they'll be gone for good; no more chance to use them.
If I try an adapter, I'll suddenly have about 10 more lenses to experiment with.
I hate getting rid of old things that have sentimental value.
Yes, I'm an invertebrate when it comes to old photographic equipment!
I've been thinking of selling or keeping theses lenses for about two years
I think I'll go the adapter route, as I can always sell the lenses later on if I don't like the results.
Thanks for the advice, and as I said, it's good to cross paths with you again.
Mike
