Revenge of the super-takumar 200 f/4... today's subject... birds (and for tim60, more power line shots). All handheld with aperture set to f8. All images cropped from original SOOC jpegs, no pp.

image #1 for tim60... enjoy that power cable...

... aaaaand image #2 for tim60. huh.. look, a bird.... and it's got a power cable in the shot too! lol.

Sorry, this bird kept moving and throwing the focus off.

All images are xposted from my thread in PYP forum... and soon to be xposted elsewhere.

Seems to Be Better than the Closest SMC M equivalent lens

Earlier this year, I got as a "freebie," together with four other Taks (three different fast fifties and one 28mm f/3.5) for an unbelievable price of CDN$150, a zoom which resembled a bazooka: the Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 70-210mm f/4. Upon opening it, it showed very little signs of use. The matching screw-on close focus lens was still in its unopened original plastic bag . Only the hard case showed obvious age.

I was too lazy to take it out for a test drive because of its heft. Then a few weeks ago, I tried it. I must confessed I was amazed by its IQ. There is something "magical" about this zoom compared to its closest modern relative, the SMC Pentax M 80-200mm f/4.5. Here's one I took at f/5.6 handheld at 1/250 sec and ISO 1600 using my K5.

Nice! I like that second one, of the exoskeleton. Do you have any idea what kind of spider that is in the last one? I used to have to pick those things out of my hair after my morning dog walk when I lived in Georgia.

Actually, that exoskeleton was pretty much alive. Looks like green tiny fly, but I could not identify it exactly. The spider is spiny orb-weaver, female. My favorite macro models.

Here is more from today with Macro Takumar, 1:1 magnification, cropped. I need either diffuser, or flash ring. I increased contrast and clarity because the lens was too close to the bounced from the wall flash light.

Had a photo shoot with a local dance team - used two rigs - K3 with Sigma 8-16 and DA 16-45 and had the K20 with the Takumar SMC 50 1.4. These shots are from the latter...

Is this Queensland or Hawaii or . . . ? The people and style look Polynesian, but I never heard that there are Polynesians in Australia. The colors are wonderful, not to mention the sharpness and the contrast.

Hi Andrew, Thank you for your comments-

I live at the very Northern Tip of Cape York Far North Queensland. This area is a bit of a cross roads in the region with Papua New Guinea about a 7 hour open boat ride away, the Aboriginal communities from the Cape and the Torres Strait Islanders that originate from the myriad islands lying between Australia and PNG. Not so much Polynesian but Melanesian. We do like the Hawaiian shirts though. The people in the photos have their origins from Saibai Island which is part of the Australian Territories. If you are interested in the area please do a net search on some of the places named.

Again, thank you for your appreciation. I have other images from the shoot in the K3 samples thread.

one more - same setup

I went too long without using my Takumars,so I decided to take a stroll with my 50 mm Macro and 55 1.8. My hope had been to find good macro subjects. I didn't, but had a fine time with these wonderful lenses anyway.

Xposting from post your photos forum + adding a shot.

Super Takumar 200mm f/4.

Super Takumar 200mm f/4.

Super Takumar 200mm f/4 yet again...

And again...

Gotta love that lens...

Oh look... the obligatory tim60 electrical hardware image.... taken with the... wait for it... Super Takumar 200mm f/4! Lol.

And now for something completely different.... taken with the Super Takumar 50mm f/1.4 7-element radioactive. It's all nice and hazy and dreamy and backlit... but I still must be missing something because no gorgeous model showed up in the shot when I uploaded it to the comp. from the SD reader.

I'm a bit stumped... which lens did I use again... ah yes... Super Takumar 200mm f/4.

By the time I'm done, you're going to be sick of the words Super Takumar 200mm f/4.

I'll give you a hint....

Lastly, and once again... the Super Takumar 200mm f/4.
