Super Takumar 200mm f/4.

Super Takumar 200mm f/4.

Super Takumar 200mm f/4 yet again...

And again...

Gotta love that lens...

Oh look... the obligatory tim60 electrical hardware image.... taken with the... wait for it... Super Takumar 200mm f/4! Lol.

And now for something completely different.... taken with the Super Takumar 50mm f/1.4 7-element radioactive. It's all nice and hazy and dreamy and backlit... but I still must be missing something because no gorgeous model showed up in the shot when I uploaded it to the comp. from the SD reader.

I'm a bit stumped... which lens did I use again... ah yes... Super Takumar 200mm f/4.

By the time I'm done, you're going to be sick of the words Super Takumar 200mm f/4.

I'll give you a hint....

Lastly, and once again... the Super Takumar 200mm f/4.

Yes, I looked at the things on the power pole that looked like my car key fob with wires added.

The STak 200/4 turned out nicely. I have the SMC version which I have only used a little. Should get it out more. I packed the 200/4 in my check-in baggage when I travelled home from Ottawa last year. The baggage X-ray there is done in front of you and the operator asked me if I had a lens in my bag. I had to think for a bit. I have only used it a bit, usually using wider or longer lenses, and usually travelling with a small kit, perhaps 4 or 5 only.

Lol... I was literally at the state park for over 12 hours today. Walked 2 miles on the trails (uneven terrain and quite a few hills), first 2 trails I took I had the 200mm f/4 on the camera but no wildlife to be seen. Swapped out to the 50mm f/1.4 radioactive while on the 3rd trail, but wasn't too happy with the pictures due to composition issues... namely lack of focal points and sketchy mixed lighting that I should have done HDR with. I do so love my two super taks though... even if they are a pain in the butt to swap out.

I only use STaks and SMCTaks now. Changing is a bit of a pain but I like to use them. Have about 15.

Put your adapter in and forget about it and use camera as a digital spottie.
Had about 15 takes but have moved half of them on as they just weren't getting used. Kept the wide to standard lengths only. Except the 300 which is still in evaluation.

Lol. I definitely use the adapter, problem is that I pack the camera up constantly. Need to order an m42 screw in body cap before i can leave the adapter in during pack/transit. During the day if it's not inclement weather, I tend to use the taks. At night it's a different story. I swap to the smc M 28 f/2.8 for astro and night shots. I love the taks though, they're my best lenses.

Here are recent photos from two of my favourite Takumars (but not my only favourite Taks ). The Auto-Takumar 55/2 (first photo) and the early version Super-Takumar 50/1.4. I've tried hard to graduate away from posting flower photos on the flickr stream, but the flowers seem to attract the most attention. Either I'm a poor non-flower photographer or people really do like to see flowers from Takumars! (Or both.....)

Utak, WOW!

The first photo is nice, but the second one is crazy sharp!

I always thought that my K55mm 1.8 was sharper than my 55mm 2.2 Tak, but they seem to be equal in sharpness.

The Tak is more difficult to focus, but there is something about a Tak image that makes so many of us use them.

Keep those images coming!

Mike

I've sold off all of my manual lenses, except for a late model m42 Super Tak 55mm f1.8. I love this lens, definitely infused with pixie dust! On my k-30...

Gee, after several subsequent generations of Pentax lenses, we see this sort of eye-watering image taken with a 50-year-old Tak. Fantastic! Thanks for posting.

Mike and Craig, thank you!

Here is a second photo of the flowers above, by the Takumar 50/1.4. I wish I could preserve these flowers for all time, as a test-bed for lenses.

I agree!

Came to visit this thread. Had a wonderful time looking at all the beautiful photos so decided to take out my S. TAK 135/3.5

My latest shots with the Super Takumar 200mm f/4, taken 05/28/2015, xposted from post your photos thread:

Sorry for the grain, I was shooting higher ISO for faster shutter speeds and didn't fine tune the settings. Most of these images are crops as well.

The first one has a strong yellow colour I have only got with my K100DS either at sunrise or sunset. Is that colour from the camera or result of processing? Was the light much less yellow in your memory of taking the picture? (That was my experience.) Which camera did you use?

Does anyone know the technical explanation of this yellow effect?

I like the last one, the way the lady's eyes look out between the mask and the cap. I agree the 85 is good. Mine is the other one, the 1.9, but I like that.

Looks like it was cold there. Why were so many people climbing the mountain?
