We've hit 1000 pages!!!

These shots are of my neighbor's front door. I don't know if it's the lighting or the overhanging branches of the pear tree, or both, but I just like the way the entrance looks so I tried to capture what makes me like it. I hope it came through.

The shutter speeds were really slow, but I think the results are still pleasing.

And seeing as the Takumar Club is about to hit page 1000, I'd like to give a mention to some of those who first made the whole thing possible

Great post, to remind us of where it all began; never knew the lenses are named after Mr Takuma Kajiwara.

Wonderful to reach the 1000th page, on a thread that remains one of the most viewed lens threads on the Forum. Go Takumar!

A cup of tea, by a Macro-Takumar 50/4

And not a cup of tea - a Brenizer image combining 28 photos from an Auto-Takumar 55/1.8 (non zebra version)

It has low distortion too. Quite an overlooked / underrated lens, just because it is slow

Wow - 1000 pages of Takumar goodness - great shots, everyone!

Here's an attempt at an "artsy abstract" taken in June with a Super Tak 105/2.8:

Super-Takumar 35mm 1:3.5 with Fujifilm Acros 100. Kind of old pics but I think they show off the nice qualities of this lens.

Very nice shots.
I have the S-M-C version of this lens, which along with the K 35mm f3.5 are the only lenses that I have in this focal length.
Superb glass, both of them.

The construction, dating from 1959, was fine enough to survive basically unchanged into the K-mount era. I don't think this is the case with any other Takumar lens, except perhaps with the 55mm f/1.8 from 1958 which however is assumed to have been tweaked over the years. My own ST 55mm f/1.8 (which might be a not-so-good copy) is quite a bit weaker than my K 55mm f/1.8.

I assume there was quite a bit of sample variation. My Auto-Takumar 55mm f/2 is as good as or better than my SMC Takumar f/1.8. Cropped it is better than it has any right to be as a macro lens: DSC_9888 processed

SMC Takumar has more vibrant colors, but sometimes I prefer the more natural rendition of the Auto-Takumar.

Very nice. You're braver than me, using Acros on the underground with so little light. I have a roll in my EOS 30 right now.

I have both the S-M-C Takumar and the K versions and until now I've never considered comparing them. I haven't used either a huge amount but from my impressions I preferred the images from the Tak - they had better contrast.
