For most of the photos I take, most of the sizes I print out, and most of the resolution I view at, a 6MP CCD sensor fed lots of light offers very few if any disappointments. There was, after all, a time when that was the best there was.
Note however that caveat:
fed lots of light. Like phonecams, I find the results get exponentially worse as the light levels drop and the ISO necessarily increases for the same shutter speed (though the *ist-series' sensor is still far better in this respect than any phonecam I have ever used).
