Broke out the home studio for some Sunday portrait fun with Super Taks

It's the 'first' version, so not the super, OMG version...

Still, it's pretty freaking impressive...
And at the end of the day, it still focuses like a Takumar and feels right on the K1.

Two flaws... a little bit of CA when pixel-peeping (the red/green kind), and it is sharp enough to make you need a faster shutter speed than you thought...

These are both OOC JPEGS, resized only



You can see the dog guarding her through the door (which explains why I didn't crop it square). This was probably about f8.



The CA is worst in the lower left on the foliage, but it is a super-sharp image at full size, even as a JPEG. Also probably f8.

I love everything about that one. Absolutely the kind of photograph that I'd want on my wall, and one of my favourites that I've seen here on PF for a long, long time.

Thanks, Dave. Too bad 150mm falls outside of most people's comfort zone. I find this lens to be remarkably clean and sharp. This image was an attempt to show the lifting stratus cloud over the field. - Jack

I have the 150/4. Nice lens. Probably not used so much because the 135/3.5 was a bit faster, a bit smaller, and marginally easier to hand hold.


I have wondered why they made so many lenses of small length differences:
105/2.8
120/2.8
135/3.5 (the faster one is different because it is faster)
150/4
200/4

All these great images in the Tak Club and the 20mm Club convinced me to get a new-to-me Super Multi-Coated Takumar 20/4.5. Just got it yesterday and enjoyed taking it out for the first time today. Loving it so far . Here's a cliche Fall photo which demonstrates the vibrant colors and flare! Taken with my *ist D (my dedicated m42 camera):
