Last shot I posted of this bloom was from the DA*300mm... I'd say it wins on sharpness, but the Takumar 35mm F2 wins on crazy bokeh, and the sharpness really doesn't suck either, especially considering it's wide open...
I just find the way it separates the background like it's miles and miles away fascinating and pleasing. I'm prolly alone on this and normal people hate it, but hey, I never claimed to be normal.

SMC Tak 35/3.5 at infinity focus city landscaping it...

This is what Long Island City, Queens looks like nowadays.

For reference, this' a good article from the year 2000 about the area. If You're Thinking of Living In /Long Island City, Queens; Industrial in Places, but Residential Too - The New York Times

Just gave you a follow on Flickr - nice shots.
You have inspired me to get put my SMC Tag 35/3.5 through a workout.
My only issue is that I don't have a lens hood for it that works without corner vignetting - any suggestions?

Hi, my name is Eric, and I have a crazy *bokeh addiction, or is that an addiction to crazy bokeh?

Takumar 35.0 mm F2.0 1/8000 iso200

*So, I think I dub this kind of bokeh in the top half of the photo"Fish Scale", unless someone already beat me to it.

Thank you for the compliment and follow! I checked your page out, got some cool shots as well.

I have the circular original metal hood (quite small) as pictured here - Used Pentax 49mm Metal Screw-in Hood for 35mm f/3.5 Takumar M42

Honestly, since I'm shooting the K-50 (APS-C), I do not suffer from much corner vigs. It is at least not distasteful on the shots that I get. If you find the hood I pointed to here, snag it. It is small/not intrusive and it is designed specifically for this lens.

Thanks! I must go to LIC more and shoot.

Oh so on APSC you'll have no problem - I'm on full frame so I see the vignetting.

Yeah that's the hood - I have a cheap Fotasy 49mm metal hood that works on my Pentax M 100mm/2.8 and SMC Tak 55mm/1.8 but it is too long for the 35mm/3.5 (and likewise for my Pentax M 28mm/3.5). I'll keep my eye out for an original although they are hard to come by.
Maybe something like this might work as it has a shallower depth but designed for wider angled lenses - might work on the 35mm and 28mm Lens hood

The correct hood for the M 28/3.5 is square shaped.

yes and vey hard to get I see.
A round hood might work though?
Third party square hood options seem to be expensive.

Sorry - I don't mean to get this thread off topic!

Check out Hunts Point, it is lovely and live.

Also, check out Roosevelt Island, you get scenic views from both Queens and Manhattan - at the southern tip there is a park...

About the hood - keep checking the Fleabay every now and again... likely one shows up.

Yes = I have a plastic after-market hood for my M 28/2.8 and it is square. Again, on APS-C, the hood is really more for haze than vignetting.

My mention of the square hood was more on the 28mm than the Tak. Sorry. A 28mm square hood of the correct filter thread would work on a Tak just as well as a K mount.
