I fall into the corrected camp, but that is a VERY personal choice.
Same here (corrected), but just barely...fantastic location I'd love to explore!

SMC Tak 55/1.8 (again!) on *ist D. Probably my favorite lens

Thanks, I think that's an excellent analysis. In the other angle that I did on the same visit (I think you've seen it in the K10D Club) some ultrawide distortion is still there even after defishing. Personally I much prefer it with converging verticals, but I know that others prefer the more "correct" version with the verticals straightened.

For those who don't visit the K10D Club, I'm talking about this shot here with the 17mm fisheye (defished):

I do like the first of that pair especially, where the angle of shooting might be giving a bit more upward bulge to the horizon, right under the church, and where each cross, both on the building and on the gravestones, seems to be pointing at exactly the same spot in the firmament. I like its deeper grays, too.

Excellent--I'd have to say painterly--rendering of those little wild asters, Paul!

There is an SMC Takumar 200mm f4 but no SMC Takumar f5.6.

Quite right! My mistake, it is in fact a Tele Takumar 200 f5.6. Apologies for the confusion.

I saw your comment after the correction had been done.

A ten shot handheld stitch with the 20mm. It works surprisingly well for multi-shot stitches despite its complex moustache distortion, at least on APS-C.

Quite impressive. I like that lens.

Very threatening sky, except it seems all over with the rainbow and bright light shining. Yesterday?

Thanks Tim, it was on Friday. It was one of those moments when a break in the clouds bathes the ground in intense sunlight under a dark sky, and photographically that's the light I'm always after. But it often only lasts for a couple of seconds and never more than a minute or two, so you have to act fast. For that one I knew that a pano was the only way to get the rainbow in, so I stopped the car, jumped out, and shot it so fast that there's actually slight motion blur in some of the frames from panning too quickly. Ten seconds later the light was gone, and a minute or two after that there was a torrential downpour.

Lovely picture, Paul, but very discouraging to those of us that won't see weather like that until next May.

In fairness, that photo was taken back in October...but then we only have to wait until March for Spring.

This is one of my regular dogwalk routes I take Jeannie on. At one time this area was fenced off for safety reasons, but the fence disintegrated a long time ago. Those are backyards to the left - and to the right is a creek, with a 15 ft dropoff Super Tak 35/3.5 on *ist D:

Love that firewood shot! The ST 35 F3.5 has to be the best value for the buck lens no question.
