Just some rainy day indoor Super Tak time feat. Cat

Just torching my poor cat with flash using my 55mm 1.8
Note: A bit of post processing in Lightroom to bring out the sharpness since it was shot wide open and I ever so slightly missed the focus

Viewed at normal size, sharpness is NOT an issue for this pic and is still a very pleasing image.

I'm guessing my favourite B/W filter for skies: #2 Orange? Really well done.

Thanks Albert, you sure know your filters. Yep, it's orange filtered, but applied digitally in Silver Efex. Seems to offer all the benefits of optical filters with no image degradation and no worries about factoring the filter into the incident exposure reading.

I have a print of HMS Bounty II, the replica, coming into Vancouver, BC during the 1962 world tour promoting the film. I used a #2 orange on my original (pre-S) Pentax with preset Takumar 135/3.5 to bring up the "mist" from the exhaust of the little boats surrounding her. Won 2nd prize in the black and white division of the MGM contest. The film, if I remember correctly was 100 ASA Kodak black and white. Hand developed and printed in a friend's darkroom with his help. That just might help you understand why I like them so much.

One of Captain Bligh's descendants, Anna Bligh, was Premier (kind of like US Governor) of Queensland a decade or so back.

Small world, eh? My Province has a premier. We Canucks follow the Commonwealth naming conventions for the most part.

I cried when I found out the ship was gone in a storm. She was a beauty, and meant things to me personally.

Crazy how small it can seem in this internet age. Captain William Bligh was born in Plymouth, Devon, about 15 miles from where I live just outside Tavistock. He's mentioned in this commemorative plaque on the harbourside in Plymouth, from where two of the First Fleet ships left for Australia. Oh, and it's also where a little ship called the Mayflower headed off to some other colony. . . now what was that one called again?

(Apologies for the non-Takumar photo)

When it comes to the Mutiny, I have always been on Clark Gable's side.

My first photo taken with the SMC Takumar 55 1.8. Well, actually, my first photo taken with any Takumar. WOAH!!!! These produce amazing images! Beyond sharp and that 3d rendering is outstanding!
