The color version of these wasn't much. It looks good in B&W, but the yellow markings were kind of neat, so I pared it back to just that.

105mm is one of the standard modern sizes of artillery- aimed at a castle.

I didn't know that. A shell that size with modern explosives must pack a heck of a punch. But I think the last army to point any artillery at Launceston Castle was Oliver Cromwell's Parliamentarians in the Civil War.

That was a little before the king's head came off and all the king's men and all the king's horse could not put it back on.

A pretty brutal period of the history - about 10% of the national population died during that war. 300,000 out of 3,000,000.

Very nice. I'd like to shoot a version of that in infrared.

I've discovered that the SMC Takumar 28/3.5 works nicely on a short extension tube.

Auto-Tak 35 f2.3 with KP
This lens is sublime for flowers and anything up close. I'd love to test for some landscapes but my copy does not focus further than about 10 feet so I need to get that serviced through eric since I don't want to screw up this relic myself.

Stunning rendering, and files that are a dream to work with in post.

Is it super sharp at f2.3? Nah, but who cares. We all know why we love this lens.

The rendering is sublime. I've never owned that lens (yet), but I'm genuinely starting to think that it might be the greatest Takumar of them all. Hopefully someday I'll get the chance to find out for myself.
