The rendering is sublime. I've never owned that lens (yet), but I'm genuinely starting to think that it might be the greatest Takumar of them all. Hopefully someday I'll get the chance to find out for myself.
I picked up this copy for sub-80 USD thanks to the scratches on the front element and dirt that seems to be in every nook and cranny. Doesn't seem to care though as you can see

They seem to be getting harder and harder to find.

Yeah, yeah, I know: giant eucalyptus seem like such a great idea when you plant them. But then the giant koalas come along and (very slowly and very cutely) cause massive devastation.

That's insanely cheap. A great find, and good to see that it's gone to someone who will really appreciate it.

Yup, happens every time, just like clockwork.

This lens is sublime for flowers and anything up close. I'd love to test for some landscapes but my copy does not focus further than about 10 feet so I need to get that serviced through eric since I don't want to screw up this relic myself.

Stunning rendering, and files that are a dream to work with in post.

Is it super sharp at f2.3? Nah, but who cares. We all know why we love this lens.

Wanted to try the passion flower shot in B&W, I think it came out really good. What do you guys think?

I want to try this lens out for some B&W portraits.

Just watch out for the drop bears. They are more dangerous than koalas (which ARE NOT bears).

Okay, Less than three months ago, I wrote:

Now, had I seen that gorgeous 85 a few days ago, that woulda been my starter. I have an Oly 50, and an SMC 55/1.8, so the 50/1.4 Tak would seem to be redundant, other than it's rep. Appreciate the input.
My "toe in the pond" was a nice 105. Then I discovered The Survivor in a box upstairs.

Others have opined that this forum is a bad influence, or at least an expen$ive one. Since the 105, I've had an amazing combination of luck and lack of willpower. Joining those two are (in rough chronological order):

SMC 28/3.5
35/3.5
150/4
SMC 50 Macro
135./3.5 (free)
17 Fish-Eye
SMC 200/4

Not meaning to brag; I think this may be an affliction.

I gotta shoot more.

And yes, you buzzards are bad influences.

You know you could really use the 50 1.4 8 element version to really round out that collection.

That’s what “The Survivor” is. Rediscovered it after languishing in a box for only God knows how long. Click on the link in my last post if you’d like to read its story.
