Shot with one of my favorite Takumars, the 24/3.5. I really like the close focusing distance.
Not all that crazy about the lens for landscapes, which was actually what I got it for, but for things close-up or within a few meters it's very good. I really like the rendering from this although, although bokeh aficionados will probably say it's too busy.

Got one relativelty expensive (150USD), but it was completely mind, had no signs of ever being mounted judging from the M42 threading and flange. Nevertheless, it was mounted to the K1 within a minute after receiving it

Thank you! It's funny, it often exhibits a bit of red-to-purple fringing in these scenarios which make the outlines look a little 'muddy'. Easily fixed in post and it just crisps everything up, even wide-open as above!

I'm working on something and just wondered how we might know what the 'half click' apertures on some m42 glass might be?

For example, Takumar 50 (8E), has a stop for f4 and f5.6 but also a half click between those. What is it? F4.5 or F5? How do we know?

I would think a half stop in between f4 and f5.6. You could measure.
11.1111mm/50mm=4.5.
F/4 =12.5mm, f/5.6 = 8.9mm diameter. This is from the front of the lens or entrance pupil.

Thank you. I kept easing closer to the bird but it flew off before I could get to mfd.
