I took the SMC 300mm F4 out trying to get a giant snapper at blue hour. I pointed at something but I don't think it is the turtle.

I love old lenses and their rendition.

I also love steam cars (wish I had a few million for a Double E series and the shop to keep it running). Near here there is a Provincial park with steam excursions using a Shay logging loco and a turn of the 19th century engine occasionally.

Yes, steam cars are really awesome. I am a lifelong railroad enthusiast and have ridden Shay, Climax and rod engine powered trains in Pennsylvania, Maryland and West Virginia many times.

I have far too many 50-58mm lenses on my camera collection and in my lens case to give them much of a workout. The quick test of the early 58/2.4 says it will be getting used instead of being parked on display with one of my AP bodies.

Pentax really built a winner back in 1957 when my just acquired Takumar 58mm f/2.4 was assembled! More of my first day test photos taken with my k5iis.
Some at f/2.4, other at f/5.6 and the sunset afterglow is f/8.
I have the 55/2.2 and 55/2 Takumars and the 58/1.8, 55/2.2 and 55/2 Auto Takumars- this Takumar 58/2.4 blows the all away wide open!

I've got a SMC 300 and it's not a lightweight. Hand holding and focusing using a smallish body like a ks-2 is impressive.

At the gardens with my grandkids a couple days ago. The little one got his feet stuck in the mud, fell down and had to crawl out. Here he sits, asking the heavens why they let this happen to him, while his big brother tries to pretend he doesn't know the little dirt ball. SMC Takumar 55mm f/2.
