The 135 3.5 Super Tak has me in it's thrall! A little series to tell a story of a garden spiders struggle. (Sadly the post has re-arranged the intended order )

My M42 is 85/1.9. ...I see now, the 83mm is just "Takumar," not "Auto," or "Super-."

That is what I was thinking with my question.

I have 85/1.9 STak and know of other STak and SMCTak 85/1.9 and 1.8 versions.

I simply did not recall if there was also an 83/1.9 in any of the Tak series.

I think I need to just the helicoid in mine because it seems not capable of focusing beyond about 25-30 m.

quick question about the Super/SMC Takumar 55mm f2 - why are some of them printed with a yellow (rather than white) 55/2?

Taken from my back window. The hawk devoured a small animal and then spent 15 minutes preening and sharpening his beak against the top of the pole. Super Takumar 150/4.

AFAIK, at least from Super-Takumar v2 onwards “1:2/55” was always engraved in yellow. As to why – that’s a good question.

In my limited experience...

the only thing definite I've found about the yellow ink/paint used on the 55/2 is that they did on almost all of them (except the very early production models) and no reason why.....

(shrugs)

I've got one headed my way, just the same.....

WormWood

Last weekend I met my daughter and her husband for a camping weekend at Police Outpost Provincial Park, Alberta, Canada. For one of our walks I took my SMC Takumar 1:1.8/55 as the only lens for the walk. (SIW?).

We passed a standing dead tree with worm trails on it. The best were perhaps 10 feet up (3m) the tree. My daughter has a good friend whose area of expertise at the University of Alberta includes these things, and I took this shot for her.

K3 + SMC Takumar 55/1.8, ISO 200, 1/50@f/8. Cropped from 4000x6000 to 1419x2079.

More from the walk to follow ... including undocumented excursion into Montana. For 10 feet, 3 meters. We are all on a surveillance camera in Northern Montana.

Maybe yellow paint was cheaper and they bought a batch...
