Basking in the evening sun, 737-800 N778MA waits for a call that may be long in coming. The operator, Miami Air International, filed for bankruptcy in May 2020, and the assets were purchased by one of the principals, who has been trying to get the reorganized company back in business. However, the FAA revoked the new entity's Certificate of Public Convenience last month for taking too long to recommence operations. The owners are trying to get it reinstated. The plane sat at Miami International (MIA) in storage from December 18th, 2020 through June 3rd, 2022, then flew to Smith Reynolds (INT) in Winston-Salem, where it is parked behind the North State Aviation hangar. Planespotters shows it status as "stored".
