Thanks. That's what the soft lenses are good for. Another shot with the F 85/2.8 Soft:

I've come sooo close to buying a Pentax soft 85. In the cart, out of the cart, in the cart. You know what holds me back? The only images (with certain exceptions ) that impress me....

Are yours!

PP allows a soft lens resemblance without actually using a soft lens, but creating what you do is an art. I'd be hard-pressed to replicate it either in software or with the proper lens. Very well captured sir.

Thanks for the comment. I was originally inspired to acquire the F 85/2.8 soft from images I saw on flickr from a Japanese photographer using the K 85/2.2 Soft. I saw in those images the potential of the lens. To create my own style, I've placed the soft focus lens on extension tubes and taken macro shots. The soft focus rendering helps with issues relating to excessively narrow depth of field.

Here's another example:

An experiment - two diffusion filters on a cheap zoom lens (=intrinsically on the soft side). The rendering is not quite the same as a true soft lens, but less contrasty lighting (=no black background) might be better to reveal the effect.

SCAN, obviously taken with a soft lens so it must have been the 85mm f2.2, as that was the only one I've owned. I must also have been experimenting with a Cokin star filter of some kind.
