thanks for the offer steve....

Not a chance... it is only lonely because it is summer in the garden, and the Vivitar 105 Series 1 is glued to the camera right now. When I do pry it off, the Tamron 28-75 goes on for the kids birthday/pool parties.
But summer turns to fall and My Favorite Fast 50 (say that 10 times fast) will not be lonely for long...
I enjoy it more than my FA 50 1.4, and indoors in dimmer light... I think my MF is more accurate than the AF of the FA wide open, but dont tell anyone....

I LOVE THIS LENS and I only paid $35 for it! Actually $40 with the Hoya UV that was on it. Shopping at Camera Swaps as they are packing up, has some advantages if you are lucky.

Stratman...nice moon! Glad you got up the gumption to not only take the shots but post them here! I can recommend the Manfrotto 488 ball head, comes in a bunch of different iterations depending on which quick release you want on it (or none). Nice stable head with separate locking mechanisms so that you can keep camera angle steady and pan in a horizontal circle.

I know they are a tad on the 'over the top' side but.... it was fun pulling out the old lens. Thanks for the inspiration.
For some reason the second image REALLY looks good to my eyes.

That a lonely and lousy lens can still get the good shot, here is one of Miss Teen New Jersey 2007, Alyssa Campanella, in last year's July 4th parade. I found a crop of this on wikipedia, which was cool.

The lonely lens? Tokina AF 70-210 f/4-5.6. The lens often has low contrast and as a result poor auto focus. It was a part of the package when I got my ZX-10 with the TRULY DREADFUL SOMEONE MUST BE PUNISHED and therefore my loneliest lens, the SMC-F 35-80 4-5.6.

Nesster, thanks for participating! I think you may have just convinced me to move to "Joisey"

Vivitar (Komine) 28mm f/2.8 Close Focus Wide Angle

.

This has been a lonely lens for me since I got my M 28 f/2.8, but
in several respects, it's a superior lens. The Pentax may have
a bit warmer color rendition, but the Viv is just as sharp if not sharper
at infinity, and of course, focuses closer.

Well, I took out one of my neglected lenses today, the Pentax FA 20mm F2.8. It's not a brutally sharp lens, but certainly sharp enough, and it renders colors beautifully, and, I don't really know how to describe it...it just has really nice...character I'd guess you'd call it. "Smooth" maybe is the best word to describe this lens. Also very easy to manually focus.

My FA 80-320mm doesn't get much use. I am more into landscapes and this zoom rarely gets off the shelf. Recently I took it out to the beach to see how it would do.

SMC-P A 70-210 f/4

This is my loneliest lens. I seldom use it - until I decided to shoot with it just to try it out last week in a campground during my evening walk, I don't think it had been on any of my cameras for at least a year.

Well, it isn't all that bad! Here are a couple of shots. I chased these magpies around the campground road, and passed by some wild roses on the way.

vivitar 400mm F5.6 Multi Coated

This lens just sits in my cubbord, I really should take it out more, buit it has lost favor due to my sigma 70-200 F2.8 and 2x TC

But for an old tele, the 400 F5.6 still produces. The link below is shot on slude film in about 1982

Albert, I just got the Pentax A 70-210 and use it a lot! Just goes to show you that "one man's poison..." I've found it to be much better than the DA 50-200 that I bought the A 70-210 to replace it. So now my "lonely lens" is the DA 50-200.

NaCl(I probably should give that one a spin too...or put it up for sale)H2O

I have a buddy that feels the same way about his A 70-210. Heavy, but worth the bulk.

When I bought my A 70-210 there was an F 70-210 right beside it within $10 of the same price (I think the A actually cost more) and took the A because the aperture was still f/4 at 210 on the A and was only f/5.6 on the F lens. I had the SF-1 at the time, so the AF would have worked.
