Some photos from a recent backpacking trip. I brought along my Tamron 18-200 to keep kit weight down, but still have a lot of flexibility.

One of the photos from my very short time in Page, AZ.
This is at a Scenic view point near Denny's, and a Marriott? hotel.

I had already gotten all the obligatory touristy shots of the Dam at Lake Powell, and part of the Colorado River, so I decided to start looking around for other less obvious compositions. I may have even inspired another photographer there (with a Nikon) to do the same.

Pentax K-5
Tamron 17-50@25mm
f/22 (don't use it much...wanted to try it)
ISO 80
1/30
Bracketed 5 exposures 1 stop apart, but ended up only using one photo (-1ev)

Hi guys, I just bought my first 3rd Party lens, a Tamron 28-75mm.
Here's some shots I recently did.

75mm, 1/320s @ f/3.2, flash on hotshoe.

63mm, 1/180s @ f/4.0, off-camera flash bounced on wooden planks

63mm, 1/180s @ f/3.5, off-camera flash on camera's left.

Thanks!

Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8

Spent so many hours on the trails with this lens that it is strange to be without it. At least I have plenty of Raws made with it that I am yet to look at. I will not forget this autumn day in the ADKs. Upper Ausable Lake, from Indian Head.

f/8--1/13th--17mm--ISO1oo--tri-pod.

Tamron 90mm Di f/2.8

I love how the colors actually gain depth in the reflections Venturi. Here is another from the above series, at the same aperture, though I backed off a bit to gain a little DOF here. Handheld, with a small crop to aid composition.

I had an amazing 4th of July Weekend at 4th of Juplaya in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada....a home away from home at this point.

The sky out here is really incredible....at night you can look up and clearly see a white arch that is the Milky Way. This is the first exposure from my little experiment to see if I could actually pull this off.

Tamron 17-50 @ 17mm
ISO 1600
f/2.8
30 seconds

I did some curves adjustments in CS5 to get the colors just right.

This photo is at sunset earlier that day....The light out here is magical...the pastel colors at sunset are amazing.

17-50 @17mm
f/13
ISO 80
0.5 second exposure

Still a lot of work to do editing/sifting through the hundreds of images I created there.

This was also the first time I have taken my K-5 out here...and it held up extremely well. I brought my K-x, also. (a veteran of Burning Man 2010)

These are superb! You can only see a star or two around here for all the stupid pine trees.
