I am enjoying this lens and hope to have more time to explore the possibilities with it. Tamron SP AF 10-24mm

So here are my first shots with my new 28-75. Just quick shots around the house. They are raw, but untouched. I only have iphoto and havent gotten into the whole computer end of the game yet. First thing is to determine whether this particular lense is ok. I will need to shoot more, but so far so good! I believe any blurriness is due to the 2.8 speed. I wouldn't want anything faster because the DOF would be just too short. Feels pretty good!!! Do you think this particular lense is up to snuff?

I love how the colors actually gain depth in the reflections Venturi. Here is another from the above series, at the same aperture, though I backed off a bit to gain a little DOF here. Handheld, with a small crop to aid composition.
That Tammy 90mm was always a favorite of mine on film. Nice to see it holds up well on digital! Great bee!

Cwmorthin in N. Wales, with the Tamron 17-50mm at f5.6, and an NDG held in place over the lens. When I viewed this at 1:1, I was really impressed with the sharpness with which the grass and little stones of the building had been rendered.

That's your back yard? Yow!

I like it. Not too overdone, no "glow" effect. It's fairly subtle; if I didn't know what the dynamic range of that scene should be, I'd never know it was HDR.

Thanks! I did a bit of post processing including Picasa. I am fortunate to live on 10 acre land with trees that have not been touch except by nature and our goats .

LOL! My wife laughs at me because I always talk about wanting a goat or two. We're in the city, so they have to be pet goats, not livestock. She's afraid our chowlamute dog would eat the little pygmy goats (not the fainting kind) that I want. Great back yard, though! I'm jealous.

Hehe, yeah, the goats are terrified of dogs. One time a friend of ours came over with his dog in the car and the dog noticed the goats, took off and tried to get through the fence (probably to play?) and he couldn't but the goats got so scared that they disappeared in seconds. After that they were silent all day (otherwise they are very "talkative" lol), behaved themselves and stuck together as a group very closely (10 of them). Goats are very funny animals with character, sometimes they can get on your nerves too lol.

The sky out here is really incredible....at night you can look up and clearly see a white arch that is the Milky Way. This is the first exposure from my little experiment to see if I could actually pull this off.

Tamron 17-50 @ 17mm
ISO 1600
f/2.8
30 seconds

I did some curves adjustments in CS5 to get the colors just right.

17-50 @17mm
f/13
ISO 80
0.5 second exposure

Still a lot of work to do editing/sifting through the hundreds of images I created there.

This was also the first time I have taken my K-5 out here...and it held up extremely well. I brought my K-x, also. (a veteran of Burning Man 2010)
Love the Milky Way shot!

Thank you! 1 of my favorites too--in a rare moment of LBA detox-rebellion, I dam near sold this precious piece, but came to my senses in the nick of time.

This is nicely done--thank you for posting. For landscapes, I felt the 17-50 shined most @ f/5.6

"Fortunate," now that's being Modest with a capital M--I'd say the the word "rich" is more accurate a word for anyone with this backyard--nice job presenting this special place to us all.

Okay, around here, July is bee month--gotta shoot what's in season, or go to the other hemisphere I guess. If I start to over do the thread with bees, let me have it & I'll stop.

f/8--ISO 400--1/500th--No tri-pod, no crop, no sharpening
