Thanks for your response. Postprocessing is what I struggle with (well it is my secondary problem after being a bad photographer). I am simply overwhelmed by the postprocessing options (even though I do understand the technical side of it). I tried to play with free software (RawTherapee, GIMP), though I rarely go beyond adjusting levels. Typically I can not do better than straight-out-of-camera JPEG. (The above picture I have posted is an example). Interestingly enough I can appreciate when someone else does a good job (to my taste) at PP, but I can not reproduce it simply following my taste.

I would appreciate if you could be so kind and play with the RAW file from my image and show me what you can do with it (if you think it is worth bothering at all). I have uploaded the PEF file here: Filebin - Tag p0k0cmgzzn
Here is a simple PP. Just played with Shadow/Highlights/Contrast etc in PS. You may also leverage some PS plug-ins software such as Nik, Perfect Photo etc. Photography is my hobbie and not a profession. What I've learned over the past few years is there are no Rules in photography. You capture images and make changes based on what your vision perceives and how you like to portray the image. take a look at my Flickr and you get an idea of what I'm saying. http://www.flickr.com/photos/rsmdphotography/sets

Also, I'd change the format to DNG RAW in your camera.

Good luck,
Derek

Derek, thanks a lot for your time. I was getting something similar with RawTherapee, though I wasnīt satisfied.
Why do you recommend to use DNG over PEF?

DNG is a more universally supported format than PEF and it contains all the same information. Might as well go with the file type that has more support!
I shoot DNGs too.

Thank you Sage , It was around feeding time when I took these shots and this baby croc didn't want to be disturbed while the park Ranger fed it

Kangaroo Heart cut up in tiny pieces !!!! he didn't have a Mouth full of teeth but still looked quite intimidating.

Went on vacation last week and brought all my gear (K30 + 35mm f/2.4 + Tammy 17-50 f/2.8 + Tokina 135mm f/2.8) and despite my intentions to use the 35 aa my primary lens, I ended up using the Tamron for 90% of the 1500 or so pics I took. Love this lens

K-x + Tamron Adaptall-2 28 2.5. Not sure why this lens doesn't get much love, but I find I get more keepers on this compared to even my Tak 28 3.5.

Hi folks, hopefully (knock on wood) I'll get to add a photo or two in the not so distant future. I have a 17-50 on order and waiting for it to be shipped.

I've loved all the pictures. It took me forever to look through all the pages. The 17-50 seems exceptionally sharp. Actually, some of the pictures I see almost seem too sharp!!! Is that even possible? I do have a question though. Besides an umbrella, are any of you using rain protection gear to get use of your lenses under harsher conditions? Just curious because I don't want to be stuck inside on a rainy day.

I've taken my 17-50 out in light rain with no issues. Body is a K30.

Holy bokeh!
