I don't think I'll ever 'outgrow' this 17-50. It's just consistently great.

Yeah, I know this one isn't exactly centered but due to the nature of the gigantic monolight in the sky I didn't have any other options. I got it as close as I could while still blocking the sun with those cross-beams. I still love, love, love the light.

my two favorite things: reflections and shadows.

the blue windows in this shot turned the sky extra blue.. I decided to keep it as it was instead of lowering the saturation.

Here are some shots with a 28-200/3.8-5.6 Aspherical LD, Model 371D, a lens I don't use a lot. These were taken today at Viscaya Museum and Gardens overlooking Biscayne Bay in Miami, Fl
This grand house(some house) was built between 1914-1916 by James Deering, a Chicago business man. I have to set aside some time to go through all 162 pages of this club so see if any member(s) have used this lens and posted any pics.

K-3 with Tamron 17-50 mm f 2.8

I have chosen Tammy 17-50/2.8 for my intensive use lens this November. I have had this lens for over a year, and generally regarded it as just a good utilitarian low-light lens for parties and other evening events. Using it that way, I did not concern myself much about IQ. It was enough that you were able to capture the image, record the event, without excessive use of flash. Other than a little low-light focussing difficulty, the lens has performed quite well. Generally, I just slam the camera into Av or Auto mode and snap away. On occasion, however, I began to realize that some of the images captured were a little better than one would expect for plain snapshots. That is what led me to select this lens for more intensive use. I am now finding the lens capable of providing excellent images on regular occasions, sometimes even producing the sort of 3-D effect that I see regularly from the 77 limited.

I am wondering what strategy to follow to produce the 3D effect. I am finding that you must use a large enough aperture/depth of field to capture more than just the foreground or else you turn the background into bokeh and lose the 3-E effect.

It would be interesting to hear what others think about how to facilitate the 3-D effect.

I will try to dig some out in the next few days. I have achieved less in this area than I would like to achieve, however.

Airshow

So here is my first post in this group.

A Belgian Air Force F-16 releasing flares during the Athens Flying Week 2014 airshow

I used the 70-300 LD that i have from my film days. It's still quite good and gives me that extra reach i need.

Seems there's something almost magical about shooting ruins. Like these building shots for all their color.

Tiger Rattlesnake

Two photos of a Tiger Rattlesnake encountered while hiking. K-7 and Tamron 18-200. I really like the soft sophisticated colors. Check his eye in the second photo.
