I'll heartily endorse this opinion. The Tammy SP AF 24-135 is a very satisfying "normal" lens for outdoor use. So is the SP AF 17-35. Both are old-school FF lenses with more than adequate speed, color and sharpness in today's DSLRs. They're my first choice in everyday use. I do keep the SP AF 28-75/2.8 around for 'special' occasions. The DA 55-300 is the only DA survivor in the competing zoom category at this address.
The high end Pentax equivalents MAY outperform the Tammies under certain conditions but at
well less than half the cost I can afford to spend a little more time tweaking the shots in PP such that I can't tell the
practical difference.
I'd also note that all my primes longer than a few classic Pentax 28's, 35's and 50's are manual focus, F/2.x 90, 180 and 300 Adaptall-2 SP's. They're better'n I am.
I'd go for a few Limited primes for the pleasure in using 'em but just can't justify the cost at this point in life.
