Hey, have you got any exif for these shots and what body were they taken on? Thanks. I am curious, because I shoot with the 17-50 a lot--those shots look a bit soft, especially the last one (focus is off). I have seen a lot of 17-50 shots too, no wonder why you are in the "I used to have a Tamron" club.

edit, oh, I see you now shoot Canon. Did you once shoot Pentax?

Well, I was actually planning on going with Pentax originally but got a good deal on a 40D, so I went that route. I've always respected the Pentax community and have toyed with the idea of getting a camera like the K7 and the 31, 43, 77 FA Limited prime combo for street shooting. As for the softness, I believe that my copy front-focused slightly but the originals were sharper than this. I think that is mostly due to Photobucket compression since I didn't resize ahead of time back when I had this lens. For what it's worth, my 17-55 is sharper wide open.

Sorry to hear that-- Just kidding, of course and wish you the best with the Canon--they sure do sell lots of em.

It's not too late.

That is a shame--misfocus destroys a shot--makes me feel so much better about my great luck with Tamron lenses--3 lenses, all keepers, first sample. But I do think it is awful this happens to so many people, in all lens mounts. People pay so much for quality in DSLRs and should get it, without having to jump through hoops. Genuinely sorry for you.

Great--I hope that makes up for it, though, to be honest, I know many Canon users prefer the Tamron over the Canon. It is amazing how much opinions can vary.

Here is my Tammy 17-50mm @ F 16--missing my polarizer this day

It is frustrating. Tamron usually does a decent job. With Canon, it's Sigma that seems to struggle with AF calibration. Almost every person on the Canon forum that buys that 50mm f/1.4 sends it in without even trying it out for calibration because the front focusing issue is so prevalent. I hope the new batch of lenses is better since I would really like a couple of those.
