And one with the DFA 70-200.

Heron (not sure what type. My son, who's eight said that he thought it was juvenile yellow crowned night heron, but I have no idea)

I think, from looking at the leg colour and feather detail, it might be a Black-crowned Night Heron juv, not a Yellow-crowned - anyone else got an idea ?

For comparison, those are juveniles Yellow-crowned Night-Heron [Nyctanassa violacea]

So not sure they are the same... could be indeed young Black Crowned Night Heron

Hard to say. My son is really into birds. I gave him a bird guide to North America and he studies it a lot -- me, not so much. But I can recognize a cardinal when I see one...

Hi, found a page that explains the différences

The juveniles are slightly more difficult to ID but some features make them easier to identify.

Juvenile Black-crowned Night Herons are chunky and squat like the adults and have short necks. The bill of a juvenile is dark on top and green to yellowish on the bottom, the lores are sometimes a greenish color and the wings have large white spots on a brown back.

Juvenile Yellow-crowned Night Herons are slender in appearance and have long slender necks. The bill of a juvenile is mostly black and the back and wings have fine spots and the overall color is darker than a juvenile Black-crowned Night Heron.

And i'd change my mind now I think it's indeed a Yellow-crowned Night Heron. The image in this link looks very close to your bird

Getting back from a gig, I've been using the Pentax 70-200mm extensively.
I was setting the Camera to top @ISO 4000, and I mainly shot at /f3.5 and 1/200sec because stage light was not that bad on this venue. Well there was a video crew filming the concert so in this case the Light technician was pretty strong on the lighting, great!

What great shots!

A couple from me.

Very happy with the lens, it is far more versatile than I expected (for some reason). In fact, I think I'll sell my 60-250.

This lens is worth every penny
I've been constantly amazed since I own this one (needed calibration though).

This first pic is from a concert I shooted for the Indian group DIVANA while they were touring Europe.
This is Caleb Khan, awesome traditional singer from Rajasthan.

This was taken during a casual walk around the lake close by my flat. My friend Miles Okazaki decided to make an april 1st joke by saying he will retire from the music business to focus on raising wine and talking to Swans
It's a slightly retouched version of the one I posted in the Post your K1 pictures thread.

A couple of friends of mine that were playing Hockey for a good cause (Cancer fund raising)
taken with the K-1, JPEGs defaults direct from camera... limited PP (auto-tone and ltiile bit of sharpness, clarity and vibrance)

I have to say that I used to take photos of hockey players in different arenas, and those who tried that knows how the lighting conditions are usualy awefully bad... but the rendition of that lens surpasses all others !
I am very pleased by the results!!
