Railroad Tracks at Dawn (DFA 15-30mm with pixel-shift)

This is a shot with the DFA 15-30. A lot has been made of its inability to take screw in filters, but this is an example of what happens when you do multiple exposures, averaged in the camera. This is 25, but you could do a few more if you needed.

Fiddled around in post with this one to polish it up a bit - healed out some power lines, and applied some exposure masks in PS following some Youtube tutorials.

John did you correct for convergence or were you super careful about the verticals on the castle. Saw your post in the K-1 thread and I think the files are very similar in character to my K-5 IIs.

There was a thread around about filter systems for this lens, so I thought I'd contribute a beauty shot of the gargantuan apparatus.

It's been corrected using lightroom guided correction. I don't think it's possible to get the verticals right without tilt and shift..... unless you are on a ladder at 50% the height of the castle!

Definitely missed having a CPL and ND on this lens last week. So will have to look into filters at some point. The main thing that stops me is laziness with tripods, too often they just stay in the car here.

Thanks for the comment re:RAWs. I do wonder if there is something slightly up colour-wise with my workflow. I'm ok with the results but I feel like it is taking more work to get there on occasion, with greens being a pain in particular. I'm not sure I trust the Adobe embedded profile for K-1 but I'll look into it all at some point!

Both awesome. What great shots who have both captured. I was just looking at some photos here and I gotta say I think the 15-30 is worth every gram and every penny. So sharp, contrasty, and such colours!
