Found a few good deals at thrift shops recently.

Chinon MC 28/2.8 for $2. Haven't messed with it much but so far it seems like a decent performer.

At another I found an M 50/1.7 and Takumar (Bayonet) 135/2.5 for $6 each. Both in excellent condition.

The same shop had an Tele-Astranar 135/3.5 (preset, T-mount) for $5. Smallest 135mm I've seen. Mechanically it is very nice, optically it's fair - decent contrast and colors, acceptably sharp stopped down. I'll still grab the Tak if I want a slower manual 135mm, but for $5 I couldn't resist.

Size comparison with Super-Takumar 135/3.5 and Vivitar Auto 135/3.5

15 blade diaphragm. A bit oily but..meh - it's a preset.

My tip is the Pentax-M 40-80 Macro. Got mine for $20 and it's a nice lens and very easy to CLA.

Another very cool one is the Industar-61 L/Z in M42 thread mount. Punchy colors, great resolution at mid apertures and very cheap.

Vivitar 28-210 F3.5-5.6 my $30 Superzoom

I bought my PK-A Mount Vivitar 28-210mm F3.5-5.6 from an eBay seller for a total of $30 shipped in excellent condition.
Unlike most more recent wide range zooms, the Vivitar shines at its long end. The sunflowers and goldfinch were captured at 210mm at F8. Image cropped, levels adjusted and sharpened in PP. Pentax K-3 camera used.

$30 lens -Vivitar 28-210mm on FREE *1st DL camera

A forum member included a *1st DL with a lens I recently purchased because he didn’t want to chuck the camera in the trash since nobody buys old beginner 6mp DSLRs. Mated to my $30 Vivitar 28-210mm F3.5-5.6 manual focus lens, it made a great “dirt cheap outfit”. I shot these photos for my FB page to show people you do t need to spend thousands of dollars to get good results.

Too good to throw away

Presenting the Auto Sears Zoom 80-200mm f 4.0 macro lens. This one can be had for as low as $9.99 and free freight on eBay, and I found a copy in an out-of-the way place in my lens cabinet, no idea when, from where, or how it got there. It belongs to a (hopefuly) defunct category lenses that I call fiddly macros, lenses that try to do too many things including macro and have various fiddly approaches to turning on the macro function. It will do macro and it will do zoom, but none of it particularly well, and generally with a degree of softness that many would deem unsatisfactory. It produces usable macro or close focus images that are somewhat soft but which possess excellent color fidelity, better sometimes than than that produced by macros selling for hundreds of dollars more. Anyway, here are a few snaps.
