DCL (dirt cheap lens) Club

Be sure to list how you came across those DCL's. weather it be Pawn Shops, Fleebay, or other sources. I'll start it out with my SMC M135 3.5. I found it in a Pawn shop for next to nothing. It's in great shape. I have yet to do any testing with it. Price paid..... $20.00

This is my first pic with my new K200d. I just chucked up the 135 and handheld it. It was kind of windy so maybe I should have tweeked the iso to increase shutter speed.

$10 lenses at camera show: 1) Auto Takumar 55/1.8 (excellent) 2) Tamron-f 35/2.8 (ok, not great, but swirly bokeh)
$15 or less lenses: Yashinon-DX 35/2.8 (decent though not a Takumar) in a camera store cardboard box sale, S-M-C Tak 28/3.5 for $11.50 on ebay, and a SMC Tak 50/1.4 at goodwill.

Got the K200d in mid June and on the lookout on some cheap primes. Brought from ebay a Pentax-A 50mm f2 ($40 all in) and a Sears 135mm f2.8 ($25 all in..sold as-is however). The Sears 135mm is in the mail...I can't wait.

Gotta love pentax for the backward compatibility on old lens; if I have to buy these fast lens @ current generation and price I wouldn't be able to get them all. At the very least a 135mm f2.8 will be WAY over my budget.

I guess finding dirt cheap lenses is much harder in Finland. My cheapests have been around 40-50e.

My cheapest lenses have been my Super Takumars. Well except the 85mm f1.9 (not cheap)

The 55mm f1.8, and the 135mm f3.5 I got for around $10.00 each. and the 28mm f3.5 and 35mm f3.5 were both under $30.00. All on e-bay.

Vivitar 28-200mm.

Picked it up at a local camera fair a few weeks ago for 20.
The seller was asking 28, and kept reducing the price ( without me haggling! ) every time I walked past. He's either the worlds worst salesman, or desperate to unload the Pentax stuff ?

I'm very pleased with it as well.

My friend Bill handed me this because I am a camera nut, and he was downsizing.

Does it count if you buy a beautiful K2 for $149 that has an unmarked 28/3.5 attached? They must have been in the ER case for 25 years.

New battery and off the K2 went for . . . $149 BIN - the buyer was ecstatic.

I got my A 28/2.8 for $30, because I was willing to take the Program Plus that was attached to it for free. Or was it the other way around?

Maybe this qualifies as a dirt cheap buy, even if it is relative: a Nikon zoom + Tamron 90/2.5 Adaptall (in perfect shape) for $41 as a package, from goodwill.

It's hard to beat FREE, eh? I've no camera dealers (new or used) nor decent thrift shops near my remote mountain village, and I've not recently browsed the nearest Big Cities (which are the equidistant capitals of California and Nevada), so all my good deals have been on eBay. The best involve buying a lot, picking out the good, and (hopefully) reselling the rest. No resales yet.

Listed below are my cheap lenses. Item prices are amortized from lot price, or are actual item cost; all include shipping. Non-Pentax-mountable lenses are excluded (I got a pile of Canon & Nikon lenses for under US$10.00 each -- I'll start listing those on eBay soon).

THE BEST UNDER US$10: Sigma Z 24mm f/2.8, M42 -- Hanimax 28mm f/2.8, M42 -- Vivitar 90mm f/2.8 macro, M42 -- Hanimar 135mm f/2.8, M42 -- Sigma DL 35-80mm f/4-5.6, PK -- Takumar-A 70-200mm f/4-5.6, PK -- Vivitar TZ 075-260 f/ 4.5-6.2, T4 (a beast!)

THE BEST UNDER US$20: Industar-61 50mm f/2.8, M39 -- Helios-44 58mm f/2.0, M42 (great!) -- Sakar 500mm f/8 mirror, PK (wow!) -- Pentax SMCA 35-80mm f/4-5.6, KA2 -- Promaster 60-300mm f/4-5.6, KAR

THE BEST UNDER US$30: Albinar 24mm f/2.8, M42 -- Porst 35mm f/2.8, M42 -- Isco-Gottingen 35mm f/2.8, M42 -- Porst 55mm f/ 2.8, M42 -- Meyer Optik 100 mm f/2.8, M42 (sweet!) -- Porst 135mm f/2.8, PK -- Meyer Optik 180mm f/5.5, M42 -- Enna 240mm f/4.5, M42 (sweet!) -- Alpa 300mm f/5.6, M42 (another beast!)

Some time Real Soon Now we'll get a cheap room in Reno for a few nights and I'll browse the pawnshops where casino losers unload. Maybe I'll get lucky, eh?

I have a few that I was given for free...
M42 Yashinon 35mm f/3.5
Pentax-M 50mm f/2
M42 Vivitar 400mm & 2x tele-converter
M42 Vivitar 200mm f/3.5
K mount CPC Phase 2 35-70mm

Here are a few shots with the CPC Phase 2

oh and I have a Sigma 135mm f/2.8, also M42. Here's a shot from that lens:

This bunch, along with an M42 mount Mamiya 55mm f/1.8 that I've owned for 20 or so years (and it was quite used when I got it), have held me over well until I could order some newer stuff. (just ordered the DA* 16-50 this afternoon!)

oh and how could I forget my Pentax-A 50mm f/2 I snagged off of Ebay for a mere $35 about an under appreciated lens. My copy is truly "like new" and is fantastic. It's ridiculous how much better it is than the "kit" 18-55. The Pentax-A 50:

My best cheap? Like new Auto-Rikenon 50/1.7 (M-42) attached a pristine Ricoh Singlex TLS body. Total cost $25.

Here is my best shot to-date with the Rikenon:

I know, I have previously published this, but it is such a nice shot for such a modest investment!

I bought a Chinar 135 mm f2.8 off of ebay last year for $12, unfortunately it has really oily aperture blades, and they stick like crazy, but I did manage this nice shot with it. I actually bought another one to replace it, but it is a newer model I think ,and I have not really used it to test it out, lol

Yashinon DS 50mm f1.4 M42

Yashinon DS 50mm f1.4 M42
I got this lens for 16 with Yashica TL electro X and a photax 200mm f4.5 - that's cheap!

It's auto-only so on my K100D it's always wide open....
and some of these shots were taken with a rubbish adapter (no infinity focus) before I got a real pentax one....
