Many thanks. Here are a few more taken later. These were hand held and near wide open as it was darker by then and I'd put the tripod away.

Later today I plan to try the les out on film but it'll be a while before I get the results back.

Nice shot. How do you like the lens? I am considering to buy it in near future. I am torn between SMC A* 600mm f/5.6 OR Sigma 50-500mm F4.5-6.3 APO DG OS HSM. Both great lenses each with it's own strengths.

Thanks. If you don't mind manual focus the A* 600 f/5.6 is a terrific lens. On either the K-1 or K-3 it's easy to focus and sharp even wide open. The Bigma is probably more versatile being a zoom and likely cheaper than the A* 600. I have the Bigmos 150-500 also for when I want AF but I really like the A* 600.

Thanks for the info on the lenses. I don't mind manual focus at all. Both of mine SMC 500mm f/4.5 and SMC A 400mm f/5.6 are manual focus. I will go for the SMC *A 600mm f/5.6.

Thanks Ivan and Paul. Just wish we could get more varieties to visit the Joe Pye Weeds and Butterfly bushes.

Went out to take some pictures of shore birds. Last few days they are coming in decent numbers. There were few of us shooting and from nowhere came Peregrin Falcon chasing birds and spoiled the party. In the split of second shore birds were gone. This Peregrin Falcon done this few times here. They got to eat too
Luckily there was this Great Blue Heron doing some stretching with the wings and some Blue-winged Teal taking nap.

Shot with K-1 and SMC 500mm f/4.5

Nice sequence of Great Blue Heron stretching.
