Thanks Class A! It's one of my favorite shots and I am so happy that it worked out (although some complain that the bee is not 100% sharp).

Welcome to the club Jos. You are making great advertisement for the A-series with your wonderful pics. I am sure Ebay prices will rise sharply thanks to you......

Schneider, thanks.

For me the prices can rise, I have now these wonderful "A macro lenses" and I will never let them go.

Hallo Jos,

really great shoots. I although have the A 50/f2,8 macro but I havn't used it very often. But to use it with this exgtension tubes you have it seems very attractive. I'm a newbie so I ask you for some more explaination. What are exactly extension tubes? What are the difference between 31mm and 52mm and what brand are those? Maybe you could post a picture of your assemble?

Hallo Juergen,

All my macro lenses only have a maximum magnification of 1:2.
With extension tubes, according the length in mm (13-21-31), I can go to 1:1 or higher.

In 2008 I used the original Pentax extension tubes (foto 2) without the electrical contacts ( Pentax doesn't make any others).
All the A-lenses became M-lenses with the well-knowned aberration in light measure on the K10D.

Now I found a third brand set with electrical contacts in Poland www.foto-tip.pl and I am very satisfied to work with them (foto 1 and 3):
from the first shot the right exposure.

Hallo Jos,

thanks a lot for this info. It help's me a lot.
In dpr-forum actually there's a discussion which concerns the image quality of this lens. Someone posted that the A 50/2,8 macro regarding to the FA 50/2,8 macro has no good bokeh in reason of it's only 6 aperture blades. The bokeh of your macro shoots seems very creamy - for me it could not be better... Could you confirm it for non-macro shoots?

Thanks Jürgen

Hallo Juergen,

Sorry, I can't help you.
For non-macro shoots I use the A50/1,7 or one of my Takumars 50 or 55 mm.

Here's the precise link to the PK/A EXTENSION TUBE SET. IIRC, Pentax did a P/KA version as well.

I recently replaced two fully manual 28mm and 50mm primes with the A28 2.8 and the A50 1.7. I love the mix of manual focus and AE. Here's my first keeper from the latter:

Just bought my first A lens a 50MM 1.7 and I am loving it. The focus is super smooth and the pictures come out so much sharper than my kit lens.

Here is an old lamp that may or may not work:
